Valentines Is Lame

We dont do valentines cause we both feel its a big hallmark holiday and a waste of money....I dont like the whole forced lovey dovey thing....It doesnt feel natural. I know guys hate this holiday and it doesnt feel right when romance is forced.

Your thoughts?

Agreed! My hubby and I tell each other we love each other many times a day and we don't need to spend money on a manufactured, commercialised 'day' to show it.

My husband and I never did it either. He proposed to me the day after because he said that it was stupid to do it on the actual day. And in the 8 years of our being together he sent me flowers once the day after v-day, again because the day was stupid.

I couldn't care less.

I *hate* valentines day.I have *never* has a good one.Everyone's boyfriend around me doesn't forget and they do something sweet and write a love letter or at least get a doing it teddy bear.Valentines day to me is a day to remember your loved one and how good you have it to be with *them*. . To show them how much you care. . . .All i've gotten in the past is my gifts given to me and not talked to because we fought the day before and a teddy bear. . .Its suppose to be the thought that counts, not so you can try and get some a$s. . .Sorry Crying

Before having .Oni, I dind't care about it really.

But when I saw the onsie and bib at .T.J.Maxx for 2 dollars, I couldn't pass it up.

I made him a homeade card that was el free-o.

Actually, it's a hoiday dedicated to st. Valentine. Not a "commercial holiday."

Chris always does something big for valentines day, but I think now since brayden is around it's gonna be even bigger.

We don't live together anymore, and he hasnt called me all day so I just know he's up to no good. It wouldnt bother me if we didnt celebrate it though, its just nice going out to dinner and such, especially with brayden because he's so darn cute in every single way possible. Even when he's munching on some grub.

The origin of valentines day was a pagan tradition... Then it evolved into something that was changed by the prieasts... So no, technically its not a commercial holiday..

People have just made it that way because they are greedy selfish no namers.

technically its not, but thats what we have made it to be. So now it is, and its all about the cards, flowers, and chocolates. Makes me want to puke.

It's the same as .Christmas: there's no denying the roots of the holiday but what it has become is sick-making.

All I want right now is someone that I can call a valentine. Someone that I love and that I want to go to bed with and snuggle with. I dont care about getting anything I just want someone warm in my bed with me instead of going to and empty bed.

Finally!! I wasn't going to start the thread but I am glad you did. Natalie, you sound like me.

My husband and I call it happy crappy hearts day because it's just a way hallmark preys on people to buy cards and stuff like that. It's very annoying and I can't stand hearts and all the love crap; they make me want to vomit. I think it means so much more when your someone gets you something that is not on a specific date that tells people to get something. I guess some guys need a date for a reminder to get something as a lot don't naturally get things as a "just because I love you."

i have gotten a lot better about it then in previous years. I think having my son has changed me a little. We did some arts and crafts yesterday and today that had the valentines theme. Yes, we used hearts because he loves them! So valentines day is special with him.
