Had Sex For the First Time...
Posted: 02-15-07 16:43pm

Okay.. I did it.. I really had sex.. Oh my god..

I'm still trying to get over that..Hahaha.

But I have a few questions i'm hoping someone can help me out with, as I don't wish to ask my mother for advice.......

Okay..

It hurt so bad. I know, it could have been a lubrication thing, but, ouuuccchh. I bled.. (i had posted a question earlier about getting fingered, and bleeding.. I didn't go to the doctor, because I figured it was normal..) and I mean, I bled a lot. So I would assume he fully broke my hymen, and stretched me out as far as I can go lol.

Today, i'm really sore and tender.. Going to the bathroom doesnt bother me.. It's just that sore feeling down there.

When can I expect this tenderness feeling to go away.. And next time, if I bleed, should I go to the doctor and get things checked out? I'm just worried that my vagina is abnormal, and that i'm feeling things I shouldn't be feeling.. And the fact that I keep bleeding is getting to me.

Sorry.. Emotional overload..

Chances are your bleeding had nothing to do with your hymen unless you are under the age of twelve or have an unusually thick and stretchy one. Most girls break their hymen before puberty. Hymens are so fragile that fingers, tampons, and ever running and jumping break them.

You should go to the ob-gyn regardless of whether you experience pain or bleeding the next time you have sex. Women are supposed to see an ob-gyn as soon as they become sexually active, if not before.

The number one cause of pain during sex is lack of lubrication, so you might want to buy some if you are not making enough of your own.

As for when you can expect the pain to go away, well everyone is different, so an accurate estimate would be very difficult to give.

That's fairly accurate. My hymen was nothing but a thin string of skin, and it didn't break until months later. Beforehand, sex was not painful at all unless he got "caught" on that skin. It eventually broke in the shower, and I bled quite a bit too!

I also get sore after sex, but it's a good kind of feeling Wink

well, I did have a very thick Hymen, and it really hurt the first time, and I bled, so I guess this is normal, dont' worry, it will stop hurting Wink

It happened over a year ago, I should hope it stopped bleeding and hurting lol. It actually stopped bleeding very quickly, and wasn't really sore at all.

Mine wasn't as painful as what my friends described it as. IT was more of a stretching pressure that I felt and I didn't bleed...

Confused

Yeah, I think just everyone is different. My first time was very painful, and I bled a little. Me being on top after that helped so much.

My best friend though felt no pain at all, and didn't bleed.

I dont think the comment about the hymen being broken before the age of 12 is accurate. I was a very active (sport wise) when I was younger, horseback riding, cheerleading, etc. And my hymen didn't break until I was about 14. I believe you are completely normal. Give it a few more times and if it continues then see a doc. You should however as a previous reply has stated, see a gyno regardless. As soon as you become sexually active you should.

Most girls break it around puberty or sooner, roughly around the age of 12. Fourteen is within that normal and average range I would think. Also, obviously that's just an average. Everyone is different. Some girls break it when they're five, some when they're 18.

My point was that so many girls blame first time sex pain on the hymen even though most of them don't actually have an intact hymen by the time they have sex.

I disagree. Typically a woman will break the hymen when she has sex whatever the age that is. Mine break at 30 because that's when i first had sex. Now considering that girls nowadays have sex at such young ages 14 and on then it is fair to say that girls loose their hymens by those ages. But this is not a normal thing that occurs. Gosh it need some serious vaginal strechting to break that thing. Unless you are born without it I don't see breaking it that easily as a child. Judging by my experience I don't think that even horseback riding would have break it for me lol!

Actually, women usually break their hymens long before they have sex. Hymens are usually very delicate. Most girls use a tampon or have a finger in their vagina before they have sex, and both of those things break the average hymen.

Here's a pretty good site on the hymen:
"Many girls and teens tear or otherwise dilate their hymen while participating in sports like bicycling, horseback riding, gymnastics or inserting tampons, or while masturbating. A girl may not even know this has occurred, since there may be little or no blood or pain involved when this happens. The tissues of the vulva are generally very thin and delicate prior to puberty."

That is a complete misconception from out of the dark ages! many girls break their hymen when inserting tampons or during strenuous activity. Almost all women have broken it by the age of twenty five, whether through sex or not.

it is a very normal thing to occour - hymens break all the time. If you go to a real sex-talk seminar you will learn this.

^ Exactly. Years ago people used to think that if you had an intact hymen, you were a virgin. If you had a torn hymen, you weren't. However, now we now that hymens are in no way related to sex. Most girls tear theirs long before sex, but some women have such tough ones that it does not tear even during sex! Some women are also born without one. So there just isn't any relation at all between hymens and sex.

I know for me, I had sex for the first time when I was 16. Before that, I had four years worth of tampons, masturbation and being tomboy. Let me tell you though, when I had sex for the first time, I KNOW my hymen broke. It hurt before he even put it in, like when he bumped up next to it? (I'm not really sure how to explain that, lol.) Him sliding inside of me took my breath away, because it was the most bizarre feeling of "that doesn't belong there." And then, weirdly, I went completely numb and couldn't feel anything anymore. Like maybe my pain sensors turned off or something. We had sex a second time about an hour later, and it hurt again until we changed positions and I got on top. That actually didn't hurt, I guess because I was the one controlling the angle of insertion.

I would actually advise the original poster to try that, if it hurts too much with him on top. As far as the tenderness thing goes, I remember being sore too for the next couple of days. It goes away on its own (at least it did for me).
