You need to see a gynaecologist your
relationship and mental health will suffer
if you don't go, also if you have this
pain every time you have sex you will
eventually begin to fear sex through
association, painful sex is not normal but
not uncommon. With luv.

What would a gyno actually do?
I've never been to one, so I don't
actually know where my local one is.
Its been a problem for at least a few
years now

Take your medical history, then do a
physical examination, take a few swabs to
check for localised infections. Don't
worry they will be very gentle and
understanding , you may be able to choose
a female gynecologist if you think you
might feel more comfortable. What ever
else happens she will treat your problem
and let you and your partner get on with
your life. Please do this . With luv.

How do you treat something like this?
And won't the swabbing involve them
inserting something?

The swabs are almost unnoticeable and you
can ask for a local topical anaesthetic to
be used if necessary, the treatment could
range from a course of antibiotics , to
surgery depending whats wrong. Go do it
-it won't go away on it's own.

Sorry about so many questions.
If I went to a gum clinic would they
help?
Is that a gyno?
Or going to speak to a nurse at one of
them local sexual health clinic things?
I've put off doing anything about it for
ages, but its becoming too much now.
Im thinking the problem may be
psychological.

A swab is extremely small; however you
should probably have a full pelvic exam
since you are sexually active, no matter
what your age is.
Pap-smears are not frightening; they don't
take long, and there is so much that can
be learned from them.
Going to a doctor, a gynecologist, is a
very important thing to do! Please go get
a first check up now that you are sexually
active! You need to keep yourself
healthy.
Planned parenthood is a clinic that will
do free exams and dispension of pills and
other forms of birth control for women
with low enough money, or if you are a
student.

Just another thought ; depending on your
diagnosis, should your problem be caused
by an infection it may be necessary for
your partner to under go some treatment to
prevent reinfection, ask the doctor.
