Is She Really Epileptic?? Help.
Posted: 02-15-07 21:37pm

Hi,
i'm looking for feedback from the forum. My 32 year old sister was diagnosed about 2.5 years ago with partial complex seziures. Prior to the diagnosis she was living w/ my parents and I believed very depressed. She does has severe migraines where she will need to lie down and they can wipe her out. Well when this started she kept going to different drs whom did numerous test, eeg, ekg, mri ect...They all came back positive. She went to a few different neurologist whose said there is nothing wrong with her. But the last one said you "could" be having parital complex seziures and put her on tons of medicine. To this day no one has ever seen her have a seizure. She constantly complains that she doesn't feel good...(back, head, stomach) there is always an ailment and I don't know what to do. She was admitted to the hospital for 2 days and all the test were done again w/ normal results. Here is my question....Do you believe she could be making her self sick and is it possible the medicine is acting as a toxin if she is not actually having seziures. Desperately looking for input. I love her dearly and I don't know what to do.

i thought the same thing about myself for a while.. i have been diagnosed with Absence (petit mal) seizures.. no one can be really aware of them well these types of seizures.
what happens is the person may appear to be involved with the environment and briefly stop what they are doing, stare for 5 to 10 seconds, and then continue their activity. No memory of the event exits.

so i dont really know when i am having them.. and others may not even notice them either.. so this may be what she has.
i do have severe migraines also.. a lot really. i get them like at least once a week sometimes once every two weeks (at the least).

i was put on several different meds over the past 9 years and i stoped taking them with out my doctors permission about a year ago, cause the meds that i was on were only making me worse.. cause he uped the dose and i was getting all the sysptems and i didnt like them.. and i thought i dont even think i need these cause i am not even really seeing myself having these seizures .. so i did so and then i only got worse and had more and more migraines .. so i got back on the meds and i am doing great ..
so what i think is that maybe she is on too high of a dose of meds, so maybe she should talk to her doctor about the proper dose that is right for her and just see what happends from there.. cause you do not want to stop any meds .. that is the worst thing you can do while having epilepsy.

hope this helps Smile
have a nice day!
