I Need to Know.
Posted: 02-16-07 01:29am

I dont get to sleep til 2-3 in the morning because im never tired during the night. And I dont get up til 3-4 in the afternoon. Is this bad for the baby not eating until later in the day? Im so tired now that im pregnant I dont even want to get up. I got a book that explains everything in pregnancy but nothing about sleeping too much and if its healthy for the baby. Do any of you know the answer? Cuz if its bad, I need to either take some freaking nyquil to go to sleep early or something.

You're not tired at night because you slept in late.

Try and get your body into a better rythm.

Get up before lunch and then go to bed a bit earlier.

You don't need nyquil or anything, you obviously need the sleep so make yourself get up earlier and then you will be tired earlier.

Aim not to have more than 8 hours actually in bed (as in over night) sleep, then if you are tired have a 30-60 minute nap in the afternoon.

You need to go to the doc because they will tell you what youcan and cannot take for stuff. And nyquil isn't on that list of things you can take.

You need to get up earlier than that to start your routine...And nyquil is a big bad no no while pregnant...Sleeping too much is not bad for the baby but not eating properly is....Get up esrlier and you will be tired earlier. That simple

Most women know not to take nyquil ! And how many is "most" women? You don't have to be educated or informed to get pregnant, others may use this forum as a point of reference, I try my best to be responsible that's all, some consider omission approval, who knows there may be lives at stake here!

there is a big difference from someone not knowing that nyquil is not good for you when pegnant then someone to know that booze and drugs are a no no

Hmm sorry but I gotta agree with chase again....Booze and drugs are well known facts but nyquill isnt...I see that you are trying to be helpful but it might offend someone if you tell them the obvious.

Personal attacks will get you nowhere, mrs happy. Nobody was rude to you, so don't get an attitude. It will only get this topic locked & that isn't fair to the original poster.

Actually I see no problems with telling pregnant people to avoid drinking alcohol.

A lot of people seem to think it is ok hence the number of babies born with .F.A.S.

Sorry but if you are going to take issue with reading a simple honest comment don't bother reading.

You are going to be more tired during pregnancy, it's hard on your body. The others are right, you are going to have to force yourself to get up early and get into a healthy sleep routine. If you get up early in a couple of days you will be exhausted and hopefully be able to get to bed at a decent hour. This will prepare you for having to get up with the little one when he/she comes.

Ask your doc what is ok to take to help with sleep. Mine told me benedryl or .Tylenol .P.M were ok, but always ask to be sure. (.Tylenol .Pm ok, .Advil .Pm not ok)

Tea has caffeine in it so it could keep you awake. Not sure if green tea is any different... Confused

you are sleeping 11 to 12 hours at a time. That is an excessive amount of sleep and a person your age (young!) shouldn't need that much sleep. Even while pregnant.

Limit the amount of time you sleep to 7-9 hours.

Sleeping isn't 'unhealthy' for your baby - but it is a sign of depression to sleep that often. You should start waking up earlier and going to bed 1/2 hour to an hour earlier each day.

Just fyi, your baby is not going to allow this kind of sleep when it's born.

I'm really not trying to be mean here. But go get a job. You won't be bored, you'll be making your own money, and you need that money to put away for your child. It should cure your sleeping problems, too. There's no reason you shouldn't be working right now.
