Is it normal to spot during Ovulation? Posted: 02-16-07 11:11am
Well my periods use to be very regular but
since i had a baby a year ago they got
very irregular. I was put on provera to
regulate my periods, so we could try to
conceive again and now i should be
ovulating, but i started spotting
yesterday, very light and a dark brown
color and i was wondering if it was normal
to spot during ovulation maybe due to the
provera?

Spotting during ovulation is normal if the
spotting lasts for a short amount of time
and the blood drains in small amounts.
Spotting can be due to the sudden drop of
estrogen levels during ovulation.
Irregular periods are usually due to the
lack of ovulation. Without ovulation,
conception is impossible. Oral
contraceptives (provera) are used to
regulate periods but oral contraceptives
can’t stimulate ovulation directly. It
is believed that after a woman stops
taking the pills, ovulation and the
regular cycles/menstrual periods will
re-establish itself spontaneously.
