Hey I was needing some info on postural
tachycardia syndrome. For the last 6
months my g/f has been experiencing
dizziness, chest pain, and a very high
heart rate. After all the prodding by
me, she finally went to a local
cardiologist here in wv. She was
diagnosed with pots, I am trying to get a
feel for what we may be instore for and
possible treatments. Are there any tips
to helping normalize symptoms or helping
her feel more relaxed? Thanks in
advance for the info!!!!

I have had pots syndrome from age 9 to now
age 38 and I cannot seem to get anyone to
prescribe what works. Years ago I was put
on a Calcium channel blocker and it worked
great, I got pregnant and had to go off my
meds and have had no luck getting back on
them in the past 12 years. The definition
of pots syndrome is clinically defined as
a heart rate increase of 30 bpm or more
from the supine(laying down) to the
standing position within ten minutes or
less. Patients with florid POTS develop
tachycardia over 120 bpm within 5 minutes
or less. Studies show that 75% of POTS
patients are women and that a genetic
tendency to develop POTS is usually
transferred from mother to daughter. I can
tell you my son had some problems with it
when he was 14 now he is 16 and it is
troubling him less and less,I think he is
actually growing out of it. Me however I
am stuck with it. I can tell you the more
supportive of her you are the better it
will make it on her. Tell her to get
plenty of rest and the full range of
vitamin B seems to help to a point.
Good luck to your girlfriend.
Look it up on the internet there is a lot
more info. than I have the energy to type.

thank you for the info She's been
to two doctors one says its not POTS and
another does. We seem to think that she
has many of the same symptoms of being
anemic, because she has a large
deficiency of iron ( almost non-existent
in her body). So we're hoping for her
anemic instead......they also originally
thought that it was her thyroid too but
they were wrong?? so,
we'll see what happens from here.
