Could I Be Pregnant Or Is This Something Else? Posted: 02-18-07 19:30pm
Is it possible to have a period and still
be pregnant?
About 4 weeks ago, I had unprotected sex
twice; my fiance 'pulled out' both times.
I had my period 2 weeks afterwards, but
was expecting it only a week afterwards.
Now, 2 weeks after that period, I am on my
period once again and it is quite unusual
this time. I've been experiencing a lot
of lower abdominal pain and my cramps are
more painful and have lasted longer than
usual. I have noticed my belly increase
slightly, however I have lost 5 lbs as a
result of the flu that I caught a week
ago. Oh and one more thing, my period is
lighter and clotting this time. Could I
be pregnant or could this be something
else?

.Technically you can not get your period
if your pregnant because you dont
ovulate.
.Saying that it .I.S possible to get some
bleeding when your pregnant.Its called
implantation bleeding and generally occurs
when your period is due.
The bleeding is very light (appearing as
red spotting or pink or reddish-brown
staining) and lasts only a day or two.
.It could be an early miscarriage,it's
very common. It usually happens when the
fetus is unhealthly and has little chance
of survival. Some people have these before
their period is even due and don't
actually realise it is a miscarriage. If
this is the case you would normally
experience vaginal bleeding with blood
clots and abdominal pain sometimes with
severe pain in the lower back.
.Good luck with everything .If the bleeding
still seems strange and unusual to
you, best bet is to go and see your
doctor. He'll be able to say for sure.. :d

Thanks, that helps some...I guess my best
bet is to see a doctor.
But I do have a question pertaining to
miscarriage; what can cause it other than
injury?

No worries .
.Usually really early miscarriages are
caused because the embryo (what becomes
the fetous),has some kind of
abnormality.Your body makes sure that it
doesn't develop because the embryo
wouldn't be able survive.
.Sometimes women have miscarriages such as
this but dont realise it,they just assume
it is really heavy period.
.Hope that clears it up a bit.

That makes me feel quite a lot better,
lol. I was getting a little worried that
I had done something wrong.
