Problem with Prostate?
Posted: 02-19-07 08:37am

I have been feeling a warm sensation going from inside my rectum towards my urethra, as if something was going to discharge but never does. This has been going on for several weeks. Last night I got up to urinate, and flushed the toilet, couldn't see very well, just a dim light was on, then later this morning I see a half inch size of dried blood on the side of the toilet. It was not there at bedtime and no else used it besides me. I do have frequent urination, which I saw a urologist about a year and a half ago, he did a cystoscopy which was clear. He had me try Flomax but the side effects were to much. Over the past year I have also had left sided pain which my Doctor did an abdominal CAT scan with contrast and it also was clear, but this pain does not go away, and gets worse when my bladder is full or need to have a bowel movement, pain decreases but I feel sore afterwards. I been to a GI doc and had colonoscopy 2 years ago and polyp removed but eveything else was clear. Thank you

According to your symptoms (“a sensation going from inside my rectum towards my urethra”, frequent urination and blood in the urine) you might be experiencing an enlarged prostate complicated with prostate infection. Prostate cancer is also a possible option that has to be checked. Several diagnostic procedures have to be done: a physical examination, ultrasound scan, and blood and urine laboratory analysis can be performed (standard plus acidic phosphatase and prostate specific antigen).
You may consult a urologist to follow up.
