How long after you are off the antibiotic should you be using backup before the bc will be effective again?

I'm not sure; perhaps some of the other women on here know?

You can also use the button above that says "Ask a doctor!" when one is online Smile

I was always under the impression that you need to use a backup method for seven days from the last day of your antibiotic cycle. If you happen to go off of the antibiotics during your placebo week you should use a backup method for the first seven active days of you next pack of birth control. I may be wrong so don't quote me, i just think its better to be safe than sorry.

I waited a month for it all to wash out my system...Cuz you don't want to be too cautious..Becaue your usually on them for 10 days so 3 wks after the last would be cool...good luck..
