hello everyone. I am 17 and recently
found out i have HPV. i am currently
looking for a support group. Life works in
crazy ways. for the past few years i have
as many male friends who have just been
"friends" i was young and stupid, i knew
the risks and i just went on with what i
was doing. i got checked for Std's
regularly and used condoms most of the
time (everyone makes mistakes, luckliy i
was never infected with an STD) About a
year ago i met the love of my life who has
turned my life around, made me feel like a
real person who was worth something. long
story short everything was going fine with
him until i had am irregler pap smear, i
was referred to am obgyn who shortly
confirmed that i had HPV. I am here for
many reasons, i have qusetions that it
seems llike no one can answer for me. My
boy friend and I plan to eventully have
children and im worred i may have
problems. i would like to speak to other
people who have HPV. maby they can give me
hope for my future. maby it would just be
nice to have someone to talk to so i dont
feel so alone.
Thank you
Pam

There Is Lots of Hope Posted: 03-22-07 12:06pm
so love, here is my deal, maybe this will
help you. Did not know anything about
hpv...have cervical cancer...had lots
removed and have not allowed the docs to
do a hysterectomy like they want to. Just
had another hpv test and it is clear!!!!!!
Life sentence? NO!!! There are tons of
herbals that can help you never get
cervical cancer and boost your immune
system. Let me know if you want some
advice in that regard.
Much love and hugs

With all the new hype about .H.P.V and
cervical cancer, what people aren't
hearing is the word may, as
in hpv may cause cervical cancer - but it
doesn't always. And it will not cause
cervical cancer if you are being treated.
HPV is not a life sentence. Your body can
rid itself of hpv - or it may not.
It can take years for hpv to show up and
then it can take a decade - untreated - to
turn into cervical cancer. Which, if you
look it up, is the
easiest' cancer to rid your body of, by
the way.
How do I know this? Well, my dear, I had
cervical cancer. I now no longer have
either cervical cancer or hpv.
Keep up on your pap smears and you'll be
fine. HPV has absolutely nothing to do
with pregnancy. It won't harm a pregnancy.
It won't affect you whatsoever. In fact,
the only reason you know you have hpv is
because you had a pap smear that detected
it.
You will be alright.

It'll Be Okay Posted: 03-23-07 23:43pm
First I would like to say that having hpv
hasn't been that big of a deal for me and
at least 3 other chics I know. I found out
I had it when I got pregnant with my first
daughter, I was 18. I had genital warts as
a result and they burned them off and they
have never come back, I am now 26. I have
4 kids and never had complications with
any of my pregnancies due to the hpv. All
of my babies were perfectlly fine at
birth, and they still are. As far as the
other 3 are concerned, 1 has 4 kids, 1 has
2 kids, and 1 has 1 kid. They are all very
healthy chics, we all did get the warts
but once we got them removed, they have
not returned. So don't worry too much. I
think you'll be fine.

I had hpv too and it was no big deal for
me neither. It never converted to cancer
and it went away all by itself. Like the
others have said, if you keep on your pap
smears you will be fine. There is a
vaccine now too which covers at least 4
different strains which is good news.
Hpv can only affect pregnancy if and only
you got one of the bad bad strains of the
hpv. There is some woman who get infected
with a bad strain of the HPV (there is
hundreds of different strains some are
bening some are bad) and if the strain is
bad it will cause cervical displasia over
and over. Then the doctor has to cut and
cut more the cervix. If the cervix is too
much cut then the cervix gets weak and
can't hold up a baby. But like i said this
could only happen with a real bad strain.
Either way it is a little distressing just
knowing that things are not right with the
reproductive organs hehe

Some of this information is misleading!
Not all high risk strains of hpv will
cause cervical abnormalities over and
over, as this poster says. Also, high risk
hpv does not cause risk to pregnancy. The
only thing that may cause a risk to
a pregnancy would be the weakened cervix -
although that is not very likely.
The vaccine for hpv will not work if you
have already contracted hpv.

ingi why do you think a high risk strain
of hpv is categorized as high risk?? It is
because of it's proven high capability of
converting cells to abnormal status.
That's why nobody want to have them!
The pregnacy risk goes with the weaked
cervix which happens when the cervix is
cut! The more cone biopsies the more your
cervix weakens. If you need so many cone
biopsies you must definetly have a bad
strain of the hpv because a benign strain
of hpv goes away on it's own most of the
time without intervention like mine was.
This is not misleading information my god.
Just google search for it.
And yes the vaccine is absolutetly
beneficial for a woman who plans to have
sex with more men after the infection. To
me is not useful because i'm getting
married and don't plan to have sex with
any other man so i am not at risk anymore.
That's why the vaccine is recommended for
women 14-26 (and this information taken
from the flyer that my gyn just sent me)
After 26 are usually married so when you
are finally monogamous for life you are
not risking getting new strains so that's
why the doctors set 26 to be the limit. If
you are going to have sex with other men
you don't know if the man you are going to
have sex carries another strain of hpv
that you don't have. If he carries a
strain that you don't have you will be
infected again. And this is a fact,
google search on it too.
You can be nicer next time and at least
ask for more explanation instead of
accusing me for giving misleading
information. I'm a scientist by degree and
know well what i talk about, more so from
a virus that I have myself and i have
done deep research on it.

Here's a site mostly about HSV but does
have products that people have used with
great results in treating HPV.

.i recently found out that .i have hpv as
well. .i have only been with one man and
we are still together. .i also know he
never knew he had i and never slept
around. .many men are misled to think
that when they test for stds and come
clean then they have nothing but their is
no test for hpv in men. .as long as you
get regular paps and handle any problems
you will be fine and any possible problem
will be caught quickly.
