maybe I just don't want to accept the fact
that I have herpes but could it be
possible to be miss diagnosed? I've been
tested for std's on a regular basis and
don't know how I got this disease. My last
test was a year ago and I've been with the
same girlfriend for the last year and a
bit. I didn't have this before and now all
of the sudden I do!!!???? What gives? I'm
going to another doctor anyway, I don't
care what this one says. Here are the
"symptoms" I have right now. little tiny
skin colored bumps on my penis, my sack
seems like it's sweaty all the time, and
sometimes rarely am I itchy on my penis
where these bumps are. Anyone have the
same thing?

Hi Dmm...
Not really. Labs are very accurate... but
if you think you were.. get a western
blood clot test. this will tell
[outbreaks or not] if indeed you do have
it. It takes two weeks for results.
Sometimes.. with men...herpes takes
awhile..lays more dormant with men, than
woman.
You could have contracted it from a
previous lover...or your girl has it.
Have her take the test too. What type
were you told you have? I have herpes
simplex virus 2. Is this your first
outbreak? Feverish, flu-like syptoms at
all? Burns to urinate? bumps...sweaty...
the bumps [leisons] will slightly ooz.
Yes its gross.. but you have to keep this
area *extremely* dry...while this is
occuring. How long have you been like
this? Any other problems besides those?
Need more info!

Here's the thing I did a blood test and a
urine test. The results took 1 week and
the doctor never told me if I had type 1
or 2 and if indeed this is herpes why
would it take so long for an "outbreak"?
None of the bumps ooze at all. I have not
had the bumps on my penis for very long
maybe 2 months and they have not gotten
bigger,or gone away,or oozed,or anything
at the very wort they are kind of itchy
sometimes. My sack on the other hand has
been sweaty like that for a while (about a
year) off and on. I have been sick a few
times this year but that's due to the
weather I think, being winter and all.
Other than that I have no other symptoms.
But what do you mean it takes two weeks
for results? fot the herpes to show up? or
the test results?
Thanks for the help

Hello there
Two weeks for results of the blood test..
to find the strand- if you have it- of
herpes - type 1 or type 2. type 1 is oral
herpes, type 2 is genital herpes. i
would definity get a second opinion.. i do
not like how non-informative this doctor
has been for you. I would go to another
doctor- and gain a second opinion and get
re-tested. Guys can get yeast infections,
just like women, or it could be something
else.
When you -or if you do get a 2nd opinion-
ask the doctor where he sends the
culture/swab to? Usually.. it is a major
hospital or labatory. If they do it
there- I would still look for a doctor
that sends out the culture/swab.
labs/hospitals are very accurate.
Reliable- they have to be- so they are not
liable.. and they specifically specialized
in that field.
now that i reread the post.. what did the
doctor say - herpes or HPV? Hpv.. i think
are warts. It could be a rash too- I
would definately not go back too wacko
doco.
Good luck & hope you are feeling
better

About test results Posted: 07-04-08 15:26pm
I went in for a normal yearly
exam....thinking everything was ok ...I
don't want to accept the fact that my
herpes results were pos. but they were !
my disbelief is this I have NO sysmptoms
and had the same partner for 2 years we
broke up 4 mo ago and i haven't had sex
since! ok so all the research says within
two weeks of contracting the std you have
a break out! I have NOTHING and i started
treatment (prevention outbreak) But as
devastated as I am i dont want to accept
this and I know that its hard ( it is) and
my question is this!
10 months ago i had a baby and almost a
year and a half I was tested (pregnancy
screening mandatory testing) why didn't
this show up then I had the same partner
then ? Please help me to understand this I
found out my ex has had this a long time
(after finding out on my own from testing
its been more than 3 years since he had
this!)

As far as I know the herpes simplex virus
(both types) can be extremely elusive and
symptoms and the rate that symptoms occur
can vary from person to person. The HSV
virus actually inhabits certain parts of
the nervous system (base of the neck for
oral and the base of the spine for
genital) and the virus then can lay
dormant in these areas for how ever
long...this could be a week, a month or
two or it could be years. And then for
whatever reason you have an outbreak. The
outbreak may occur when you are first
infected but for many it is unclear when
the inital infection took place because of
the dormant nature of the virus. Many
factors can stimulate the virus to awaken
in your body and cause an outbreak such as
changes in diet, use of alcohol, having
sexual intercourse or just having a normal
headcold and experiencing a low immune
system. So this could explain why you have
had no symptoms.
