Effectiveness

Its my first time using the pill. How long does it take for it to be effective? Im taking yasmin 21 and I have 5 days left until my non-active week.

Also, would it be safe for me to skip my period this month and just start on the new pack once I finish this pack?

You are protected after 7 days of birth control use with your first pack.

You are prOtEcted NOW.

You can 'try' and skip a period, but you may just end up having spotting or bleeding anyway. It could last for weeks into your next pack. Many people that try and skip a period will not be successful the first try, it is very individual.
