We're taking advantage of the parades -
while everyone else is on the streets,
grabbing beads and drinking, we'll be
hitting .walmart and the movie theater!
I need to snap a picture or two of .alyvia
wearing some .mardi .gras beads though
 .i'll
kick myself if I don't.

was fun... I would *love* to go to the

actually looking at the map, it doesn't
look like we're that far from each other.
5-6 hours maybe?

We went to a local parade today. Ava

im confused by the marci gra thing. what
are the historical roots behind that?
fat tuesday is a polish thing-we go nuts
with the paczki here especially in
chicago, i dont know about other
cities....
how is this connected with mardi gra? we
dont have parades or anything like that
around here..just the paczki and my
grandma makes the best ones!

What's a paczki?
Mardi Gras is celebrated the day before
Ash Wednesday. It's a celebration for
everyone to indulge in eating and having
lot of fun before the lenten season of
fasting and all that.
We have mardi gras balls (dances) and
parades.

We stopped at a doughnut place today on
the way to my bowling championship thingy,
and they thought it was "so cute" that all
14 of us were wearing the same thing (it
was the team uniform, what else?) that we
all got free doughnuts! It was pretty
awesome!

Here we have king cakes. Some are donut
kinds and some are like a coffee cake with
filling and frosting.
