Anti-depressant Poop-out/rotating Anti-depressants
Posted: 02-11-04 11:49am

Hi there,

i'm a 36 year old male and am on my second major depressive episode in 2 years. The first time I took paxil 20mg/daily and was fine after 2 months. During this time I felt so euphoric that started my own business, borrowed lots of money thinking I was indestructable. After a year on paxil I weened myself off them during a 3 month period. I still felt fine. Then 6 months later into beginning of december last year, things weren't going too well with the business and then almost without warning, another spiralling despressive episode almost causing me to go bankrupt. This time i'm on celexa 20mg/daily as apparently its supposed to have slightly less side effects to begin with (not that i've noticed much difference).

My question is this. Slowly, i'm making a recovery on celexa 20mg/daily and expect to be my "normal" self in the hopefully not too distant future. One thing i'm really worried about is that over time i'll get too used to my anti-depressant and I won't spot it in time before another catastrophic episode. To get round this i've read some stories of people rotating their anti-depressants when they become too used to them. I would be grateful for anyone with experience in this to reply and explain with dosages and strategies exactly what they did?

Many thanks
