Fecal Incontinence

Okay, so for almost a year now I have had urges to quickly get to the bathroom. Now, I don't make it in time. I have had stool samples that came back fine. Tomorrow I have a colonoscopy, which to be honest I hope that they find some something. I think if they don't find anything I will be devistated. This is already taking a toll on my life. I stay home. I don't like to go out anywhere, because when it hits, there is NO time to get to the bathroom. I have had numerous accidents in public and at work. I have them at home as well.

Is there any who has or has had this problem? I feel alone.

Yeah I shore do. I’m 35 and have been having similar problems for 3 years now. My main problem is that I always feel like I have to go and when I do nothing happens at the time, so I ignore the feeling. The problem with that is at least 3 times a week and sometimes more I have accidents

Maybe IBS? I dunno, just a thought. But i would definately continue going to the dr, they cant tell u nothing is wrong when evidently something is. So just keep on going , dont let them tell u nothings wrong and leave it at that, switch drs if u have to, hopefully u get it all figured out and can lead a normal life again.

I have also experienced this problem for many years. In my case, part of the problem is nerve damage in my spine, which has caused a loss of ability to "hold it" as I don't have full control of my sphincter. I also have redundant bowel and have been diagnosed with IBS. My gastroenterologist prescribed a diet of plenty of fresh fruit, no raw vegetables, whole grains including brown rice, 8 glasses of water daily, lightly steamed or grilled vegies. In addition, he advised me to eat probiotic yoghurt and take a lactobacillus acidophilus tablet every day along with psyllium or ground flax seeds. I have been following this non-drug regimen (and enjoying it) for almost a year and have experienced amazing improvement, though nothing will help the nerve damage. I have a lot less bloating and pain, with a significant reduction in mucous and blood in my stools. i hope this helps.
