Is there anything .I can take as far as
drugs to help my aching back, headaches
and all that. Everyday .I feel dizzy and
before .I was pregnant .I took oxycontin
to relieve my back aches and headaches.
But .I'm not sure .I can take them now
that .I am pregnant. Is there any pills .I
can take that won't harm the baby?

So .I cant take my prescribed pills
anymore? I know oxycontin is a serious
drug but its for back pain and .I dont
know if it will harm the baby. But I'll
try tylenol.

i really highly doubt .oxycotin would be
safe to take. call & ask your doctor.
you don't want to take anything that could
hurt your baby.

This is not at all safe for a fetus unless
you are closely monitored by a physician
you should never take anything stronger
than tylenol for any aches and pains.

my friend had a rx for oxycontin and
continued to take them during her
pregnancy. they took her baby away from
her the min it was born becaus she had
opiates in her system. even though she
still had the prescription for
it......they still took her baby away.
so i would ask your doctor what you can
take and they should give you a list
.....good luck

When .I was 16 .I was working with my mom
cleaning houses and .I didnt see the
caution wet floor and it was just waxed
and .I ran really fast to get my mom and
slipped and about broke my back, had to
get surgery (nothing minor) and they
prescribed me oxycontin to relieve the
pain a little. But if there gunna take my
baby away after its born, then .I'm
definitely not taking them.

any doctor will tell you not to take them.
i am not for sure that they will take
your baby away, but in her case they did.
she wasn't able to see her baby for 6
months. she had to go to detox and
everthing. it was crazy. just consult
your doctor before taking anything. you
are seeing a doc aren't you?

I have also had and injury that has left
me with some very serious headaches.
Therefore, I also am on some very strong
meds. This is something that i am trying
to get under control before we go off of
birth control. That being said, both my
pain dr and my ob/gyn are aware of my
goals and it is something that we have
discussed at great length. I have been
informed that there is a *FEW* meds that
are acceptable during pregnancy on an as
needed basis. Sometimes the stress from
the pain is outweighed by the effects of
the meds. This is deffinately something
that needs to be discussed with *BOTH*
drs. It is very important that they are
aware of what is going on. You should
discontinue use of all pain meds untill
you speak to them. I will also go out on a
limb and say you are probably on
antispasmatic/seisure meds as well. These
can cause many bad side effects if you
suddenly discontinue use. You need to call
the prescribing dr *today* and ask them
how to safely go off of them.

I just saw your post on tests. You say you
are 12 weeks. Have you been taking any or
all of your meds this entire time? You
said you see your dr once a month. You
have been pregnant for 3 months (or
however that works) This is something
very crucial that should have been
discussed *immediatly* if he knows you are
pregnant and did not tell you that you
need to discontinue use or he continued to
write you rx for such meds without
discussing the ramafications of its use,
then you need to find a dr that has a
brain. And if you have been seeing him the
whole time and *forgot* to mention this
than that is a different issue that needs
to be addressed.
