Breakthrough Bleeding And Effectiveness Posted: 02-21-07 13:13pm
Okay so I just recently went back on birth
control and started with a low dose
version (.5/15)about 5 weeks ago. I had
bleeding that started my second week and
was switched to a higher dose version ( i
think called ortho novum 1/35) I was told
to finish the first low dose pack and
start the new birth control after the
placebo week...well i didn't want to bleed
for three weeks so I finished the week i
was on, went to the placebo for a week,
then started the new higher dose version.
Well its into the second week of the new
one and I have started bleeding again with
really bad cramps and I have two
questions...one: even though I skipped
that active week, is the brith control
still effctively keeping me from getting
pregnant? two: Am I bleeding again because
the brith control still isn't the right
kind for me or is it because i skipped
that active week? Any thoughts?

ALMOST all women will have breakthrough
bleeding their first 1-3 months on the
pill, when they restart the pill, or when
they chnage brands.
This may go away, but you have to give it
some time.
