Hi everyone...I know that I posted this
question to the ask doctor, but since it
hasn't been answered yet, I was hoping
maybe one of you could give me some
advice! i'm on ortho tri cyclen lo and am
towards the end of the 2nd week. Anyway,
I'm really horrible at remembering them
(and yes, I'm going to look into another
form), and during this second week I
missed 4 pills in a row, I also missed a
few during week one as well. What worries
me is that, on the 4 pills that I missed,
I didn't experience any type of spotting
or withdrawal bleeding that I always get
after not taking 3 pills. Is this okay
since I did have withdrawal bleeding
before I started this month's pack? If
not, should I finish the pack out and see
if I have my period at the end or should I
take a pregnancy test? Any help would be
great! Thanks

babybluestar; The best thing to do is
continue taking your birth control where
you left off. Follow the same daily doses
and DON'T double up. When it's time to
start a new pack, start it. of course you
will have 4 pills left in the old package.
Those being the ones that you missed. The
other important thing is to consider
yourself not protected and should use
other types of birth control for a month.
Hope this helps

I always heard that if you miss 3 pills in
a row to stop that pack and start a new
one? Should I do this and wait to see if
my period comes at the end of the next
pack? Anyone?

Unfortunatly, I am unfamilair with
triphasic birth control pills. On
monophasic it would be perfectly
acceptable to discontinue use of your
current pack and either start a new pack
immediatly or wait your 7 placebo days and
begin a new pack. With either option you
would still need to use a backup method of
birthcontrol for the initial 7 days of
active pills. Therefore, if you choose to
do 7 placebo days you would need backup
for the 7 placebo days and the initial 7
days of birth control. (better safe than
sorry). I hope that this dose not get
removed as spam. But i had trouble
remembering my pills when i started them
as well. I purchased a pillpak. It is
cheapest if you go directly to their
website. I believe it was $25ish. They
come in different designs and they have an
alarm that goes off the same time
everyday. You just pop your pills in the
case, pop your case in your purse and your
good to go. I only used mine for two
months than i was in the habit and don't
need it any longer. It has now been handed
down to my little sister.

Another thing you can do is go to the
pharmacy where your get your prescription
filled and talk to the pharmacisit. They
are up to date on all the new types of
birth control. And the best thing it's
free consultation. Unlike asking your
doctor.

Whenever you miss 3 or more pills....
You are supposed to throw that pack away
and start a new pack, you must use back-up
for 7 full days.
Take the morning after pill too! It would
protect you from sex in the last 4 days.
You can use the MAP up to 5 days after
unprotected sex.
I work with birth control on a daily basis
