Hip Impingement - Cam Type!!! - Your Help.. Posted: 02-22-07 04:47am
I have femoralacetabular impingement to
both hips, cam type (not pincer type).
I would like to know if anyone of you has
ever had an arthroscopy in order to make
an osteoplasty to the femoral head??????
I want to know the outcome of the
operation!
They recommend I should have this type of
operation, but they don't guarantee
anything...
Please for your help on this...

apanteli; I don't have this problem and
never had a Arthoscopy. But I do work in
the Operating room as well and performed
Arthosocpies. Arthroscopy is a much less
invasive procedure than an open surgery.
You'll end up with one or two little
incisions instead of one large incision.
The surgeon will work using a scope and
camera and laproscopic instuments. Your
pain will also be much less with this type
of procedure. I usually recommend a second
opinion if a person is told that they need
surgery. The problem with this diagnosis
is that many physicians have never heard
of Femoral Acetabular Impingement. Hope
this helps
