Question About Birthcontrol Shot Posted: 02-22-07 23:38pm
Recently got the shot maybe about a month,
I asked the nurse who administered the
shot when I could have unprotected sex and
she said “instantly there should be no
issue.” Well I had sex that same
day…. My period instantly stopped and
besides being slightly moody, there has
been no issue. Now I am bleeding and it
is not really like a period flow but to me
it seems heavy for pregnant flow…. I
took a pregnancy test and it said that I
was not but maybe it was too early to tell
not being quite a month and all. What I
was wondering if anyone knows what is
going on? Should I just go to the clinic
and get checked out? Just opinions would
be nice! Thank you!

You got the shot while on your period?
You are experiencing spotting or a light
period right now. Horomonal birth control
lightens your period. WHich shot are you
on? How long does it last for?

The Shot is DMPA, it works on a three
month cycle. The bleeding is light. I got
the Shot within 5 days of the starting day
of my period as directed.

kamal, it can sometimes take up to a day
and a half for people to respond on here;
please be more patient. I've given you all
the information I can; I even repeated
myself on the same subject in the birth
control forum.
If you want more information, wait for
people to respond - give them a day or so
- or use the button up top that says "ask
a doctor!" when one is online, though only
post once, and only do it in the birth
control forum since this is a birth
control issue.
