assuming an average 28 day cycle.
conception was likey july 10.
although for an april 2 due date your most likely (based on an average 28 day cycle) last period would have been june 26.

just because conception was likely july 10 does not neccesarily mean you had sex that day.
sperm can live upto 5 days inside you when you are fertile.
the egg is good for about 36 hours after you ovulate.

36 hours is stretching it...they now say eggs start to deteriorate as early as 6 hours we should be so lucky if they live to 24 hours.

Yes and most sperm don't survive 5 days - but point is some do.
therfore when you are looking as a window of possibility (not probabilty) you have to consider the outside ranges.
which is 5 days for sperm (I got pregnant 5 days after we had sex so I know it is very possible) and around 36 hours for an ovum.

Obviously if you are trying to get pregnant then you want to be having sex before ovulation occurs so that the sperm are there and waiting for that eggie as soon as it is released Very Happy

i get your point your giving max times....and yeah the average sperm survives 48 hours.

but to pinpoint to a "t" your 5 day thing is quite impossible ..even with temp-ing and opk's you'll never be certain when exactly you ovulated.

I beg to differ.

until about 7/8 months ago my cycles were exceptionally regular and I knew precisely when I was ovulating.

I appreciate many people do not have symptoms of ovulation.
But it is possible with regular cycles and careful monitoring over a lengthy period of time to ascertain the day of ovulation.

and knowing that I consistently ovulated on day 13 of a 26 day cycle and knowing I last had sex on day 8 (very early on day ie not long after midnight on day 7) and knowing that I indeed fell pregnant I can be 100% that sperm *can* survive for 5 days.

3 days is the average not two.

I'm not prepared to argue with you on your opinion over facts and this is my preferred topic and something I do know a great deal about, that doesn't mean it's something that I simply google and pull up random websites. Because I could do that and find websites that tell me anything from as little as one day to as much as a week.

symptoms of ovulation is not proof you are ovulating and that any dr. will tell you.. im prepared to argue because you and no one knows when exactly they ovulate ..you are not a machine!and the ave is two not 3!

well you will be arguing forever then.
because fact is quite a few women *do* know when they ovulate.
I suggest you try telling people somwhere like fertilityfriend that you can't tell when you ovulate.

Nancy you may be wise on some things.
in this case you aren't the wisest.

if you wish to continue an arguement with me please do so off the forum, because your issue here is not relevant to the original posters question.
