think contribute to my depression! I
havent told my mom about my eating
disorder yet tho I will but what I want to
know is how do you all deal with your
depression ! I mean I thnk I want a
therapist or sumtn bc there are times I
cant stop crying! I mean I am doin better
now that I have started lexapro but the
feelings are still there!! What can I do

I am sorry to hear you are suffering. It
does make you more depressed if you think
about it.You will have good days and bad
days just try not to concentrate on the
illness itself.I think you would benefit
from counselling, ask your doctor to refer
you to someone. You are not alone and I am
sure you will always find support here. All
the best to you.

i feel ya. I was diagnosed at 16 but
suffered way before that without knowing
what was wrong. I was on meds for years
before discovering cognitive behavioral
therapy (cbt). A good cbt therapist knows
they cannot change what's already happened
to you but they can help you change how
you deal with what happens in your life
from here on out. It's all about using
the tools to learn to think more clearly
and accurately about things and once you
do your depression and anxiety will
miraculously begin to lift before your
eyes. My favorite starter book on cbt is
"been there, done that? Do this! By sam
obitz. You may want to call your local
university as many have programs in cbt
for little or no charge. After learning
the tools taught in cbt I eventually
weaned off all meds and have been feeling
better than ever before :d
take care and keep in touch!

Adhd, Depression And Eating Disorders Are Linked

Blue star 16,
i admire your courage being so open on
this forum.
Just to help relieve some of your
confusion.
Adhd depression and the eating disorder
are all linked.
They have a few things in common - a lack
of the feel good hormone serotonin the
most obvious.
With less serotonin not only will you feel
unhappy and anxious you also have a
tendency to me more angry, uptight and
you'll have difficulty controlling your
eating impulses (either binge eating as in
bulimia or avoiding eating as in anorexia
- both diseases are linked to problems
with serotonin receptors).
Controlling your intake of carbohydrates
by choosing fruit and vegetables as your
main source instead of junk food, cakes
pasta bread etc can help significantly.
Also being sure to eat low fat protein
with every meal (turkey breast and tofu
are high in tryptophan, the natural
building block of the feel good hormone
serotonin.)
it sounds a bit strange but fish oil
supplementation has shown to be quite
effective with adhd and depression.
Especially adhd.
As qt3 suggests cognitive behavioural
therapy (cbt) can help as can any method
of improving emotional health.
Another therapy you can learn and do free
on the internet is eft (emotional freedom
technique).
I hope something in here is helpful to
you.
Kindest regards,

Wow dear, you got some great advice here!
I have read that eating fish four times a
week can actually cure depression! So,
the above advice about the fish oil
supplement is awesome, because who wants
to eat fish four times a week?Lol.
Anyway, I was diagnosed with depression
when I was fourteen. And I had also
suffered for many years before. First
psych. Said I was hyperactive, the next
one said I was depressed (prozac), the
next said I had bipolar (depakane and
lithium). I went off of every drug for
about sex years because of side effects
and now I have severe anxiety. I still
have depression too, but the zoloft keeps
that under control. Unfortunately, I
have not found any prescription to
completely rid of my anxiety which would
be soooo nice.
I know that anxiety is all in your head,
so when I start to have an attack I can
kind of keep it under control, but not
completely. It is a pain in the butt.
But as the above post said, your problems
are most likely all linked. So if you
can find that one prescription drug that
will balance out your hormones and
chemicals, then you can keep all of your
disorders under control. It is important
that you tell your doctor all of your
symptoms so that he can properly diagnose.
And get you on the right medications.
I am sorry that you are going through
this! But know that you are not alone!
Plus, since you are a teen, there is
always hope that when you get older and
your hormones balance out, that your
problems can fix themselves. Not
guaranteed of course, mine didn't, but it
can happen! God bless!

Eft Anxiety Attacks And Depression

In contact with a world reknowned
psychologist in western australia today he
pointed out to me that a therapy called
eft which is safe and you can learn to do
yourself is very effective at relieving
anxiety attacks.
This psychologist has a study in an
outstanding peer reviewed psychology
journal covering eft on reducing
anxiety.
Eft can also be quite effective at
relieving depression.
You can learn eft free at www.Emofree.Com
there is also a description of the method
(under relieving emotional distress) in
the free book from depression to glorious
health in six steps - free download at http://www.Geocities.Com
