Is it possible to get your period, say a
week early, even while on the pill? Just
wondering, because I was off the pill for
a couple of weeks (after being on for a
year and a half straight), and then I went
back on right in the middle of my cycle,
which means that my period has been
delayed for two weeks. Today I am having
spotting and major cramping, I have not
missed any pills, but my placebo week is
not until next week.
So is it possible for an early period
while on the pill? this has never happened
to me once before, but I'm just thinking
maybe because my period has now been
delayed for the two weeks...
Thanks

ANY bleeding that you have on the pill
that is not on your placebo week is called
breakthrough bleeding, it is not a
period.
When a doctor asks you "When was your last
'period'?" He wants to know your placebo
week, not any other bleeding in between,
because that is not your period.
You should keep taking the pill as usual,
and you will have your period during the
placebo week.
When women start or restart the pill, they
tend to have odd patterns of bleeding for
the first month.

Ok, thank you! Also, what is implantation
bleeding like? This bleeding I am having
is a brown color, and the pain from the
cramping I am experiencing is UNBEARABLE,
it is so much worse then how it feels when
i get my period.
I heard implantation bleeding does not
come with cramps, so I figured it wasn't
that, but who kows...

Implantation bleeding is a term used for
bleeding that *might* occur when ferilized
egg implants into the uterus.
You are on birth control, so you should
not be ovulating.
Science shows that fewer than 1/3 of women
experience implantation bleeding.
