Another Question About Missing Pills Posted: 02-24-07 11:40am
Two days ago I missed a pill. I normally
take my pills in the evening and I
remembered to take it early the next
morning, however I forgot to take it AGAIN
in the evening and remembered the next
morning. I took one at 8:00 and I was
going to take the other in the evening
(because if I double it up, I get sick)
but my husband and I had sex. Right
afterwards I took a second pill, but I'm
afraid I may have risked getting pregnant.
Does anyone know if there's a chance of
getting pregnant? Or am I fine because I
didn't miss more than two pills?

Unless you miss 2 pills in a row,
generally you are still conisdered
protected.
If you want to be very careful, I would
say get PLAN B, as you can use this and
take regular BC pills.

Your chances of getting pregnant start to
increase if you are just twelve hours late
taking the pill. However, as Cari said,
most women are fine unless they miss two
or more. You also might want to use
condoms for a while until you get back on
track.
Take a pregnancy test and talk to your
husband about "what if?" if you haven't
already. In the future, you could think
about getting a different method of birth
control if you often tend to forget to
take the pill every day or you could use
something like spermicide as a little bit
of backup.
