Dizziness & Anxiety Question?
Posted: 02-24-07 12:55pm

Hi Everyone
I first want to say my heart goes out to you all that suffer from this horriable disorder. I myslef am a Anxiety Panic Suffer.
I am constantly in a mode that I feel like I walk around holding my breath. My question is I have vertigo, it's more of a motion swaying sensation, like I am wobbly on my feet or I feel like I am in an elevator falling or dropping, I have been feeling like this for as long as I can remember having panic attacks now for about 9 years.. I feel drunk all day long without the drinking of course I am not so much spinning dizzy which is more common with inner ear disorders.. I am very intrested to know if there are any other suffers with this symptom as well??
I am told it can be panic and anxiety related, but I do feel this way ALL the time.. except when sleeping or laying down relaxed...
There is a condition called rocking vertigo that is common to be linked to anxiety disorders. I am questioning if this is what I am experincing as well as AM I the only one?? I can give another example have you ever been sitting still and something moves (like the car next to you) and you get the illusion that you moved?? You get that sick motion sensation and very lightheaded!
Does this make any sense TO ANYONE?? Or am I alone on this one?
It's driving me insane and I need to know if anyone else feels like this.. I often think this vertigo feeling is what is really causing the panic because when I feel this way my panic attacks kick in full force!!! ANY thoughts or your own expereinces with this would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance!

Hi
I have a 15 year old daughter and for the last couple of years she often tells me that she feels kinda dizzy , but also like she is not here but somewhere else, she also says that it feels like someone is standing behind her, she will lean against a wall or something to get rid of this feeling but it still will not go away. She also feels sick when she has these episodes and the doctors cannot find any thing wrong with her.
One doctor said that it is a condition related to a faint, but she has never fainted, he also said that she could have an extra rib causing pressure, but we couldn,t check this out because as an easily embarrassed and extremely shy teenager I couldn,t convince her to have an x-ray!
Personally I think it is anxiety because she is that way inclined (takes after her father who has constant anxiety and worrys over nothing) she worrys over everything too, takes all my time just reasuring her. Anyway hope this is of some help.

OMG finally I find someone like me.... Very
Happy Yes I have all those symptoms and more... my anxiety kicked in when I was about 20, I got a grip on those and didn't have many for years, then all of a sudden bam, their back and badder than before...these seem to wake me up at night, and I'm in a full blown panic...try to calm myself down but doesn't work all the time, as for the dizzy feeling I have that also and you described it perfectly when you said about the car next to you moving and you feel it was you...that happens all the time to me! I deliver mail so I'm dizzy pretty much all day! I'm under a lot of stress due to personal life and I feel that is the reason I'm charged up a lot these attacks happen with no rhyme or reason, was wondering if they could possibly be hormone fluctuations. I wake up in a cold sweat, heart pounding, that tingling feeling, and thinking I'm going crazy, the other night it didn't last long talked myself out of that one...please let me know if your having about the same thing and if your on any meds, I was just placed on Lexapro, but because of my anxiety afraid to take it...CRAZY! Sad

I suffer from anxiety disorder and I had the symptom that you described. In my case it was due to anxiety that I tried to repressed and it usually signalled the onslaught of a panic attack. It had no other health related cause. It was a symptom of my anxiety disorder. Again I want to state that this was the truth for my case. My advice is to see a doctor to determine if there is no other underlying issue.

Kyria, I suggest you run your daughter through a glucose tolerance test, that might reveal what you're looking for. You may not want to mention this directly to the doctor so I have to ask, do you notice any differences depending on what she eats?

Derealization/depersonalization
Posted: 03-05-07 20:40pm

All,

I had that when I was in my early twenties and still occasionally, but I take Xanax for anxiety now and that is mostly gone. It is called depersonalization, or derealization. It is when you feel almost out of body or as if you are looking down a long foggy hallway and noise fades into the background. It is a really scary feeling and I personally thought I was losing it when it first happened. Trust me, it is completely safe and nothing bad will come as a result except fear. As soon as you rid yourself of the fear the feeling will disappear. Meditation helped me a lot and of course Xanax.

Good luck guys,
OE

I have those same problems, and I have panic attacks and anxiety. I feel the elevator thing, and I feel like I'm spinning a lot and I shake a lot, and sometimes I feel like I've just gotten off the treadmill (same feeling, you know, when it feels like your walking when your not). I feel like I'm falling sometimes too. I don't know what will help me. I take Lorazepam but it works for only a short time. They've got me on 1mg, and told me to take it 4 times a day. They told me this because I've been taking it for over a year. I have really severe anxiety and a bad fear of dizziness.

Are We All Crazy??
Posted: 11-30-07 13:52pm

Yes...yes yes...dealing with it as we speak...it is nuts! I am also trying to work...it hits me during the day...and I go in to total panic. Afraid I am going to pass out, etc. I also have eye twiches....some short term memory loss..almost like I am in a daze. I am going to ENT, and eye dr. just to make sure. But I have suffered with anxiety since I was 17, so I am pretty sure this is what is going on, however the dizziness is a new one and it is driving me crazy!

I HAVE THE SAME THING AS ALL YOU GUYS! PERSONALLY I THINK WE JUST ALL HAVE ANXIETY PROBLEMS, CUZ I KNOW I DO. THE VERTIGO WILL COME ON AND OFF THROUGHOUT THE DAY.. BUT IT CAN BE REAL BAD. WHERE YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR BEING PULLED INTO THE FLOOR OR TO OTHER OBJECTS, OR YOUR FEET ARE SINKING INTO THE GROUND AND THINGS ARE JUST SPINNING LIKE CRAZY.. IT'S HORRIBLE BUT IT'S A MIND OVER MATTER SITUATION, YOU NEED TO TELL YOURSELF THAT YOUR OK AND YOU WILL BE OK, AND IF YOU FEEL IT IS SOMETHING HEALTH RELATED PLEASE GO TO THE DOCTORS.. I DID AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE, THATS HOW I KNOW IT IS MY ANXIETY. IM STILL GOING TO EAR DOCTORS AS WELL THOUGH.. WORKING OUT HELPS ME, AND FOCUSING ON OTHER THINGS, BUT WHILE IM WALKING SOMETIMES I HAVE IT AND FEEL LIKE IM GOING TO FAINT (I KNOW IM NOT GOING TO BUT IT FEELS LIKE IT, YOU KNOW?) TIPS ARE NEEDED... ANY ADVICE? WE'RE ALL IN A RUT HERE.. BUT WE CAN OVER COME IT. luvcomp
