Still Bleeding
Posted: 02-27-07 01:38am

i just started ortho tri cyclen this month its my first experience with birth control pills. i did the sunday start and right now i'm on the inactive pills- just took my second inactive pill. i've been worried because i haven't stopped bleeding since i've gotten my period. my period usually lasts 6 - 7 days and around the 7th day i started spotting. i hoped that would get better but the light spotting continued on and when i started taking the last set of 7 active pills, the bleeding got a little thicker and i guess it turned into breakthrough bleeding? i called the health center but they said it's normal. still, i'm not convinced. i know it's norman to be spotting and to have breakthrough bleeding but i'm worried my bleeding is lasting way too long.

Hey girl Im not too fond of Ortha Tri Cyclan because that was the 1st one they put me on too and I did the same as you that Sunday start and I bled 2 wks and that was not normal for me cuz my usual was 7 days...So they switched my to a lower dose BC called Cyclessa maybe you need a lower dose...OTCylclen was too strong for me and it made me bleed heavy...Good luck...This is just my body though different folks different strokes...

it is very normal and you may do this for a month or two. Don't worry! If it goes longer than that you can certainly ask to be switched but it normally takes your body three to five months to become acclimated to the pill.
