About a year ago, during the holidays, I
had skipped breakfast and I started losing
the ability to focus on objects, sections
of my field of view were out to the point
that I couldn't even read withough
skipping letters, words and even
sentences... Then I started losing
sensation in my hands and they felt REALLY
weak as in I had lots of trouble opening
and closing them, then I started losing
sensation in my lips and cheeks... At that
point I went to the doctor (it was the
scariest thing that EVER happened in my
life) and the doctor said it was just a
Hypoglycemic attack and it's not totally
uncommon for people my age (I'm 17).
And today... over a year after my initial
attack, I got it again, the order of the
symptoms was exactly the same except this
time it lasted 2 hours instead of 1, I
also got a large headache at the end.
I am not overweight (I weigh 75kg), I got
tested for Diabetes and it came out
negative...
The thing is, that, although the doctor
said that I had a gypoglycemic attack, I
did some research and the symptoms
described were not really similar to
mine... So I'm asking, do these attacks
sound like Hypoglycemia?
I have a sedentary lifestyle, especially
during my holidays were I spend lots of
time in front of the computer - I only
have a break to eat.
Thanks.

It sounds like you may just have
functional hypoglycemia. If you're not
eating, that's the problem. You need to
eat. The symptoms are consistent, yes,
I'm not sure where you looked to think
that they aren't, but I've had some of
those in the past.

Its often not possible to diagnose
hypoglycemia by simply looking at a few
symptoms. Try and cut out certain foods
from your diet and see how you feel. The
main things that should be avoided are all
sugars, refined carbs such as french fries
and potato chips and fruit and juices for
the time being. Swith to eating good
complex carbs such as whole grain rice and
good cuts of lean meat and fish.
Do this for a while and see if you notice
any change.
You can also go to your doctor and ask for
a GTT but this tool doesnt always help.
