Upping Dose to Control Spotting
Posted: 02-27-07 19:25pm

I've been taking Seasonale for over a year. I had some spotting during the first couple cycles, which I know is normal. It eventually went away, but now it is back for some reason. I have about three weeks of pills left until the placebos, and I really don't want to be spotting all that time.

I thought I read somewhere that one can increase the dosage to two pills at a time for a day or two in order to control spotting. But I don't remember the specifics. For instance, I don't remember if the instructions were to do that for one day or two days, and when in the cycle I should do it. I can no longer find the article. I don't want to be doing anything dangerous.

Maybe it was a figment of my imagination. Does it sound familiar to anyone? Is temporarily upping the dosage safe?

I've never heard of this, though I can see how it could reduce spotting. However, how are you supposed to take two pills at once? Take one from another pack of pills, or take two from the same month? That's going to lessen how many days you take pills for, which is not good. I'd try to look up more info on this. You might also consider swtiching brands to another pill that inherently has a higher dose, or talk to your practicioner.
