New Here - Sciatica Questions Posted: 02-27-07 23:59pm
Hi!
So glad I found this forum! My left butt
and thigh (deep tissue) started hurting
REALLY bad 10 days ago. Four days ago I
went to the ER. They did a vascular study
to make sure it wasn't DVT and when it was
negative they said it was something to do
with my sciatic nerve. This pain is
terrible! He gave me enough Vicodin and
Valium to last until I could get in to see
the spine doctor, which is tomorrow. About
2 years ago I fell and broke my tailbone
and I'm wondering if this is a by-product
of that injury. I'm really opposed to any
back surgery. What will they do about the
pain? Will I be on pain meds and muscle
relaxers forever? I can't sit for more
than about 10 minutes and getting up and
down is excrutiating. Help!

My X-rays yesterday only showed a bit of
arthritis going on so I'm scheduled for an
MRI this afternoon. They refilled my
Valium and Vicodin and put me on steroids
as well. I'm really worried but I'm not
freaking out too bad. I just want this
pain to stop. The Dr. mentioned back
surgery if it's what he thinks it is and
then was like "I know your freaking out at
this point" and I was like "Not really,
I'll do whatever it takes to get rid of
the pain". Will update tonight.
Thanks!

I'm not an expert on this, but I had
severe sciatica pain from the right side
of my butt to my ankle someone told me to
go get acupuncture, I hate needles, but I
could hardley feel them they were so tiny
the pain hasn't come back it's been a
year. Hope this helps. I've recently had
spine surgery for other reasons.
