Underweight Baby? Please Help

Hi there. I am new to this forum and would
like some insight to what other mommies or
Drs can tell me. I am currently 37 weeks
pregnant according to my last mensrual
date. My baby weighs 2.1 kg. My due date
is on the 22nd of March BUT according to
my ultrasound scan yesterday my baby is
only due on the 16th of April. How is this
possible? Has this happened to anyone
else? What is my due date? My first born
weighed 2.9 full term - she had to be
induced. Then I am also having stabbing
like pains down there and sometimes in my
back it is not regular and not becoming
stronger however it is very painfull at
some times is it possibly Braxton Hicks
why so painfull? I also have very bad flu
can all the coughing be hurting my baby?
Thank you for the advice

well, you're going to have to give us more
to go on.
like:
what was the date of the first day of your
last period.
how long are your cycles usually?
and then remember it is impossible to
actually say how much a baby weighs while
s/he is still in you.
some girls here were told their babies
were x pounds and some came out smaller
and some way bigger.

I had some problems with my dates, too..
My baby measured a week behind for most of
my pregnancy, and then towards the end she
stopped growing completely. I was induced
at 37 weeks and she weighed 2.1 kg. She
was perfectly healthy, and only had
problems with breastfeeding. She soon put
the weight on after she was born.

Yeah they can't be certain of the weight
..sometimes they are so wrong...althought
my dr. never gave me an exact number he
was guessing according to the size of my
stomach.
your 1st baby was 2.9 lbs or kilos?

My first day of my last period was the
15th of June 2006. My cycles are normally
bout 28 days. If I understand correctly
due date is supposed to be on 22nd March.
However I should also tell you that
throughout the whole pregnancy my doctor
wasnt very helpfull. At 34 weeks I moved
to another doctor and Im so happy I did
cause he was the first to tell my that she
is underweight and she was breech. (she
turned now Yippee!!)
Anyway my first daughter was 2.9 kg!! She
is still very small she is now 4 and only
15kg. She still fits in her 24mnts
babygrow!! The doctor said that it is not
about the weight but more about the lungs?

Sounds like some type of gene in your
family or something like that, but
yeah...if there is small babies in your
family and you had a small child before
expect another small baby. But I could be
wrong, you never really know until the
baby is born.
My doctor said my baby was gonna be 5lbs
and he ended up weighing 8.
ya just never know...

I also think Im just being paranoid!! I
dont know if you can say its in the family
though cause my first daughter was with my
ex husband - had to divorce him was very
abusive. Now with my new hubby he is
fairly big built!!!!!!!! Haha... but it
could come from me though hey? Anyway
going to the doctor this afternoon again
got bad stomach cramps just wanna check it
out so let you guys know whats happening!!
- Just so by the way if I dont reply
immediatly its because of the time lines
im in South Africa!!!

it ould possible be the flu that is giving
you cramping.. Im 20 weeks on Sunday and
have the flu and I am in horrible pain..
Cramps, aches and so on.. Granted im way
further back from you my doctor told me to
only be concerned if I began to bleed
just saying the flu+ cramps=crappy.

Thanks for all your help girls made me
feel so much better!! Wnt to the dr
yesterday he said that I shouldnt worry to
much bout the coughing cant hurt the baby
but need to be carefull of any fever. Also
the afterbirth is looking good still
aswell as the amniotic fluid. He said I
must try and hold on for another 2 weeks
or so and she will be fine!! Aparently the
dr agree with you guys that it could be in
the family and I shouldnt stress about the
weight rather bout her lungs being fully
developed. Still on bedrest though getting
tired of that now!!!
