can I Still Get Pregnant ??? Posted: 08-26-03 16:07pm
I have a concern, and wondered if anyone
can help me. I have had two
colposcomies, one when I was 17 and
another one when I was 20 or so due to
abnormal pap's. I have had several pap's
done since, and they have come back fine.
The problem..... By all accounts I
should be pregnant. I have been off the
pill for three years now, and I was on it
for almost 7 years. My long term
boyfriend and I do not have protected sex,
and everytime we have sex he definitely
climaxes in me. The first time it
happened, I was dreading waiting for my
period, but it came and I was not
pregnant. This has been going on for
almost 5 months, everytime we have sex.
Does anyone know why I am not getting
pregnant? Help!!!!

I have experienced the same problem. I
have been off the pill for about a year
now, and my fiance and I are trying to
conceive a baby. We have been trying for
the past 5 months. At first I thought
that there was something wrong with me
because of taking the pill. So for
everyday for the last 5 month we have had
unprotected sex, on average 5- 7 times a
day. I wish I had some advice for you, I
was wondering if anyone does have any
advice to help both of us!!
Good luck and godbless

This can really be a timing issue. I was
trying to conceive for 3 months before it
finally happened. I would first suggest
trying to find out what time of the month
you ovulate. Then try having sex a day
or two before ovulation and on the day
you're supposed to ovulate. I always
tracked my ovulation by the consistency of
my normal discharge. (i know it sounds
gross) if it's clear-milky white and is
extremely stretchy, that's a sign of
ovulation. Have sex immediately!! Most
women ovulate about 2 weeks from the 1st
day of their last period. But this can
vary.
Also, try not to have sex too frequently
during the month if you're trying to
conceive. Try to focus around your
ovulation time to have sex. This will
make sure that his ejaculations are potent
and powerful.
If you've tried for at least six months
and have been unsuccessful, then I would
contact your doctor. They can do some
testing to find out what's going on.
Good luck! I hope i've helped a little.

Thank you for the information, I will try
to calculate when I am going to ovulate
this month. I am about to start my
period, and I am going to track it. But
still I am wondering if being on the pill
for so long could be the problem as well.
My aunt told me that a friend of hers has
been trying to have a baby for 5 years now
after she came off being on the pill for
over 10 years. I wish that some of these
young girls that are getting pregnant so
easily could have this problem. It would
make things much easier.

Hi I took the pill for 7 years and it
took me only 4 months to get pregnant. I
don't think it affects your fertility, it
takes a few months to start ovulating
after going off the pill for some people.
The best thing to do is try to monitor
when you ovulate and have sex then. Good
luck it'll happen. :d

I was on the pill for 5 years... I got
pregnant in two months. I have learned,
though, that after coming off the pill
many women take 6-8 months to begin
ovulating again. You might not be
releasing an egg. Talk to your doctor
about the chance you may not be ovulating.
Good luck!

Another question??? So if the problem is
that I may not be ovulating, then what
does that mean. Is it a problem that you
may not be ovulating. For the past two
months my cramps have been horrible. I
can barely stand up just for the first
day, and then they are fine. My cycle is
coming every 21 -24 days. Im wondering
what to do now. I just don't understand
what could be the problem, and I am
getting very upset and frustrated when I
think that I might not ever get pregnant.
Help!!

As Long As It Comes, I Can't Be, But Some How I Am!!! Posted: 10-06-03 11:21am
Hi hmrjnh, I read your story & please
bare with me, my memory isn't very good at
all sinc brain surgery in 1998. I tried
very hard to take the pills, eventually my
doctor suggested another form of birth
control. I was getting to sick with all
the different pills he tried. 1pk of the
pills was taken me for a month. I got
pregnant & I prayed that my child
would be okay & he was. The 2nd child
was a normal delivery to. The 3rd child,
well let me tell u this 1st. I left my
husband & I didn't realize that I was
pregnant, I was for sure that I wasn't
pregnant because my menses would come on
time every month, I thought I was just
gaining weight, at 6-months I found out
that I was pregnant. A few weeks later I
went into labor. They could not stop my
labor pains, she was in a breech position.
They said she's coming & she has a
lot of fight. Every hour they would turn
her in my stomach. They don't know why
they couldn't stop my contractions. When
she came, she was the most beautiful baby.
The doctors seem to think that it
could've been the yeast infection that I
had. She weighed 3lbs I wish u luck. I
can only tell u what i've experience, keep
going to the doctors. In my town they
have teen counslers & they sometimes
give out birth control, according to my 21
year old daughter.

My sister-in-law just went through the
same thing that you ladies are going
through. More than likely, it is a timing
issue. Although she did get put on
fertility pills. Also, a friend of mine
tried for six months and finally got
pregnant. Sometimes, for some reason, it
does just take a little longer. Your
ob/gyn can help you chart your cycles so
you'll know when your most fertile days
are. I think you both will conceive and
be just fine. Don't worry too much
because that can also throw off your cycle
which will make it even harder to become
pregnant. Listen to your body. If you're
having very, very mild cramps and you know
it's not time for your period, go ahead
and start having sex then for the next
seven days. This can be a temporary
solution until you figure something else
out.
Good luck to both of you ladies and let us
know how it goes.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I just
have come to the conclusion that I will
never get pregnant. If I could I would
have by now. I am having a hard time
calculating my cycle. For the last few
months, it has been very irregular.
First it was 21 days, next month 24 days,
and last month 28 days. Yesterday the
10th was 14 days and I feel like I am
going to start my period. My brests are
very tender and it seams like it is to
early to have them be this tender. Any
idea what is going on with me? I am
having a hard time getting to the doctor,
right now because my insurance is in the
process of being changed. Thanks for
your thoughts
