I stopped hormonal birth control at the
end of December. My husband and I have
been using condoms and coitus interruptus
(the pull-out method).
I've had two regular menstrual cycles that
came right on time since stopping the
pill. This month, my period is now
officially a week and a half late. It's
never been this late before. Since my
period was due, I've taken 4 home
pregnancy tests, all negative.
My symptoms are a dull cramping sensation
in my lower abdomen, slight constipation,
occasional backache, slightly tender
nipples, and I had some bad heartburn a
couple weeks ago. I eat a very healthy
diet, so it's not the result of a poor
diet.
The negative pregnancy tests have been
reassuring, but I've read stories about
women who are pregnant despite multiple
negative pregnancy tests. Is it time to
see a doctor, or do you think I'm
overreacting? Again, I've had 2 normal
menstrual cycles since going off the pill,
so this is very strange to me. It just
doesn't seem to be coming.
