How Many Kids Do You Want And Why?
Posted: 02-28-07 16:52pm

Hubby and I have given up ttc for a while because my depression came back when i came off my a/d's. Crying
or Very sad Am seriously wondering if .Max will be our only child, even though the plan was for us to have 2 children.

How many kids are you planning to have and why? Do you think it is better to have an only child or more?

Jules.

i don't think there's anything wrong with just having 1 child! it's just not for everyone, ya know? i want 2 or 3. i want at least a boy & a girl. so does .chris. we're going to have antoher in a few years, & if it's a boy, we'll considering having one more to see if we can't have a girl! but if the 3rd is a boy, we'll be done with kiddies. i grew up with 2 sisters & a half brother, & i wouldn't have it any other way! my sisters are two of my best friends & i know they will be for the rest of our lives. it's nice to have that kind of friendship. i want .gabe to have siblings, as well.

i'm sorry, jules. aren't there any safe meds you can take while ttc and while pregnant?

i don't understand how people can only have 1 child. i grew up with 2 brothers, 1 older and 1 younger, so we always had someone to play with. i feel like an only child would demand a lot of your time and want you to constantly play with them or entertain them.

then, what if your only child grows up to marry another only child? there will be no cousins or aunt and uncles for their children. i just can't imagine!

we plan on having 4. we want 2 close together (we plan on trying for #2 when finn is about 9 months), then 4-5 years off, then 2 more close together. i've always wanted a lot of kids and we're kind of basing this plan on where we live now (only 2 bedrooms) and where we'll live in the future (hopefully a big house).

I wouldn't want an only child for the same reasons that bridget said, but if its what you want i'd say keep it that way.I want 3 kids.I come from a semi-bigfamily and love having them around most of the time,I couldn't imagine not having one so big.(i'm a big fam person!) so 3 is enough!

I was an only child. While I didn't have to compete with siblings for attention, gifts, or cash... I grew up very lonely. I'll never be a blood aunt. I have no one who 100% knows and understands what I went through as a child, since I was alone. It's the core reason why .alyvia will have a younger brother or sister if I can help it at all.

Apart from that depressing bit, I want 2 or 3. Well, 3 really, but .aaron says we're stopping at 2. I want a full family. Not a huge one, mind, but a full one. I don't feel like we're full with just the three of us. Ugh, I make no sense.

I really don't know. I'm sooo conflicted. Most days I only want Chuy because my life is so hectic and I had such a horrible time being pregnant that I can't even imagine going through all of this again. But if my book sells (It's out there, I'm waiting on responses) then I might think about having another because I'll actually be able to spend my time raising that one. I dream of a little girl to dress up in cute girlie clothes and shop with when she's grown. But that would be years down the line so that baby really wouldn't be too close in age to Chu. I have a brother and a sister and they're both losers so I don't really think growing up with siblings is that great... I'm making no sense right now... I'm all over the place. But then again so are my feelings on this subject. If I had to pick an answer right now then it would be no! Being pregnant sucked and working all the time instead of raising my son depresses me.

Ideally, I want three boys, and then a little girl...if I only have one, I don't care either way...if I end up with two, I'd want a boy and a girl...and if I end up with three I want two boys and then a girl...it all depends how I feel when I start having them, I guess.

I really want to adopt a baby boy from .Africa, and then have one or two more boys, but I only want one girl. But either way, I want to end up with at least one boy, because it's really important for me to adopt from .Africa, like .Brad and .Ange did for .Zahara.

That was a very long and complicated answer for a simple question! Rolling Eyes

I'd like two, I'll be happy with one.

I have 2 brothers but I grew up as an only child.
I don't share well and I have issues with being around people - maybe that's be different (better or worse - who knows) if I had grown up with siblings

i want no less than three, hopefully four... but i'm like dani, if i was rich i'd just keep going. I love kids lol

i was an only child, and i begged my mom my whole life to have another baby but she never did lol i remember sitting in the backseat at night on the way home from my grandmas and praying that she'd have another haha i'm so cliche.

but i kind of like being an only child because i doubt if i had full brothers and sisters that lived with me that i'd get to go to maine and all that stuff lol so idk. but yeah i want a big family.

I grew up like an only child although I have four siblings. My parents had two boys 14 and 13 years before I was born. They hardly lived with me because they were so much older. My parents divorced and my dad had two girls 7 and 14 years after I was born. I didn't live with them either. It was just me and my mom. Life was so lonely. I didn't have have anyone close to my age who lived near me until I moved at age 8. As a result, I didn't learn how to share my space at all and also had issues with being around people - same as Kia. It was such a lonely world. When I got to college and had to share a room, life was so anxiety-ridden. I can't even begin to explain how stressful it was for me. My roommate was so easy going but it was just that I had to share my space!!

I refuse to have my son be the only child based on my experiences. I am depressed enough that there will be a four year age difference between my children.

I will probably go for three...I want that girl and this next one will be a boy. Depending on how this pregnancy goes, I do want to get pregnant within a year (I am 32 years old - almost advanced maternal age). I will probably end up having a third boy. We eventually want to adopt as well.
Yep, I want a fairly big family!!

I can't believe I just said that!! I never wanted kids and changed my mind at age 26.

We plan on trying for #2 when .Noah is around a year old. I'd like to have 2. If we had 3, then I'd have to try for #4. Lol. For some reason .I don't want an odd #. I'm the oldest of 3 and it seemed like one was always left out when we were growing up.

Hubby and I both want 4 of our own and then we want to adopt 2 other kids. We think that 4 is a good number because 2 can still get sorta lonely and with 3 there is a middle child so 4 seems a good number. We both just really have the desire to adopt or at least do foster care because I was half-orphaned as a kid and I want kids to experience a "real" family with us. I guess that I love my family so much that I want to give that gift to other kids. Btw, I have 3 sisters and 1 brother and I think that is perfect. And yes, my brother .L.O.V.E.S being the only boy in the family!
