ultrasounds can be wrong when determining the sex of the baby.

My sister was told she was having a girl and had a boy. This was a few years ago, before technology got to be amazing. If something gets in the way of the sound waves mistakes happen. An amniocentisis is accurate, but if there is no reason to put yourself through it and risk your baby I wouldn't go that route.

did your doctor say that it was definitely a girl? if they're unsure at all, they'll usually say something like ".i'm about 70% sure it's a girl." .or something along those lines.

I also wanted a boy and it was so great when I was told at 20 weeks that it was, but then every single time after that it was a girl! Well its still a girl and im 37 weeks now. At about 34 weeks the doctor showed me in detail it looks like a hamburger with the two buns and a patty!!!!!

I had a 3'd ultrasound at 16 and a half weeks and she told us it was a girl.. My darling daughter was pretty spread eagle but nevertheless I have an ultrasound with my doctor on the 13th at 21 and a half weeks and am thinking Im going to wait to send out her baby shower invites until im 200% it's a girl...At the 3d 4d ultrasound places they tell you to get a another opinion just to be sure but it's pretty dang acurate..Hard to hide stuff when your getting that good of a look.. But i'll keep you updated.. Im pretty sure its a girl but we see again here in a week or two.

A 4d is so worth the money.. It is honestly like the coolest thing ever to see... They recommend to do it at 29 weeks or more..

As far as babyshowers.. Im having mine in May when im 31 weeks..For a few reasons.. My best friend and sister are able to travel to california to be there for it, I will still have pleantly of time to get all the things that I dont get from the shower that i still need, and i'll still be cute pregnant and not big as a house yet lol..want to look all cute in the pictures...vain yes, but at least i admit it.

you're not throwing yourself a shower, are you? that's incredibly tacky.

they suggest doing the 4d after 29 weeks or so because before that the baby still looks kind of like an alien. if you don't want to waste your money you should wait until after then.

Dont worry about it.. My sister and mom are throwing mine and the dates are kind of out of my hands but I had to give them a guest list with addresses and I got to pick out what date was convenient to me
(well dates out of about a 2 week span).. It Worked out better for everyone that way.
And hey if you dont have someone who is kind enough to throw you one then why not do it for yourself?

.. Your celebrating a life I wouldnt think anything of it if I went to one where someone threw it themselves.

traditionally, you aren't supposed to throw yourself a shower, & your mother or sisters aren't supposed to throw one for you, either. it's viewed as kind of tacky.. my aunts threw mine for me. but to each their own.
