Ok i just thought it was kinda weird that she said that she was going to tell her mom the date she wanted it on....that is what i thought was rude. normally when people do stuff for you like that then you make time for it....hopefully not be busy. like you said

My sister lives in another state...I threw hers and she will throw mine..She's one of my best friends so why not? I've never though it to be tacky to have it thrown by a sister.. To be honest i've been to tons that were hosted by a family member...maybe the etiquette in california is different then out there. Or maybe it's because we have military families and most of my close friends are moved and moved often.

Yeah i think it's a california thing ! i know all my friends they had their baby showers thrown by the parents or a sister, but who cares who throws it for you i know i dont.

i don't care if a family member throws the shower but i would if *you* threw it for yourself. that would only be acceptable if you clearly stated "no gifts" on the invitations.
