Question... Need Some Advice
Posted: 03-02-07 12:51pm

Okay, so I'm currently not on any form of birth control and I'm trying desperately to get an appointment with a doctor so that I can get a prescription. I cannot find any doctors available by appointment, and I cannot see my family doctor for months so I was wondering if you could get a prescription for birth control by going to a walk in clinic... it seems a little weird to me because I only go to a walk in clinic when I'm well.. sick... but I really would like to start taking it as soon as possible and I don't want to have to wait for my family doctor... what should I do?

it depends on your age and whether or not you are sexually active. if you are 18 or older, or you are already sxually active, then you will be required to get a pap smear at most clinics.

A pap smear is a totally normal, boring procedure! You get poked, prodded, whatever. It's nothing to stress over!

you can go to a family planning clinic....thats what i did
they will give it to you and you dont have to get a pap test right away.
i was like you, and didnt want to go to a walk in and i didnt want to see my family doctor.
a family planning clinic is good because the ppl there treat you well and you dont feel uncomfortable.

Please do not have sex until you have obtained the pill! You dont want to fall in the position that alot of others have on this forum when they are waiting to see if they are pregnant with an unwanted pregnancy!

If you are young and on a college campus then they offer papsmears and you can get birthcontrol through them. Thats what I did, you can usually get an appointment rather quickly and birthcontrol cheaply without it being on parents insurance.

im sure walk in clinics u can gt them at but u will have to pay alot of money for an exam, for me i went to a walk in for aphysical when i was moving because my reg dr didnt have an appt till way later. But i had to pay $85 for it, since my insurance wouldnt cover it because i wasnt referred to them but i had the money at the time and wanted it done asap to get over here to germany. I have tricare with the military , not sure if all insurance works that way . I think even your local health department u can get birth control.
