I Have Good News And Bad, Please, Advice?
Posted: 02-12-04 19:51pm

Hey girls its me heather. I had to go to the doctor today because I was having some major back pain yesterday, and cramping so bad I thought I was gonna start my period. So anyways I went in at 10:30am and had to give my urine sample. She tested it and said omg. I cryed instantly I was already on the verge of a nervous breakdown. She says hunny, you have another germ. I was mad and happy at the same time. "what?" she says it is urinal strep. What the crap is that???? Sounds like a std. I mean because of this I have to be put on a drop when I give birth so the baby don't get it. She said it is just a precaution so baby don't get it. For now I am on keflex. 4 a day for 7 days. She says I am likely to get a yeast infection so eat lots of yogurt after you take it. Eeerrrr this makes me so mad. Pregnancy seems to be very stressful, yet you are not allowed to be stressed.
Well, for the good news, because my aunt had spina bifida, chance for baby to have it. The blood test they did on the 5th came out negative. She don't have anything. The test usually shows 95% wrong for saying she does. Sorry this is so long. Anyways on the 27th I go for genetic counseling and I found out today right after that I go straight to the ultrasound to find out if she really is a she. Some happy news huh?
Please if you have ever had this any advice?

Ive heard about group b strep with preggie women, dunno if that is the same thing...Im sure everything is going to be fine..Do a search on the internet and u should geta lot of useful info

okay I looked it up and it is urinal group b strep heres the small amt of info they had on it:*gbs in the urine should be treated at the time it is diagnosed. Carriage of gbs, in either the vagina or rectum, becomes important at the time of labor and delivery -- when antibiotics are effective in preventing the spread of gbs from mother to baby*

seems like u got the "lucky" version! Lol, seems like its easier treated if its just in the urine...

Hope everything goes well

Hey, thanks for looking it up, I sure am glad I got the lucky version, lol. It seems a little much, 4 a day for 7 days. I have not taken any medicine for the 16 weeks and 4 days that I have been preggy and I guess 4 seems like alot, especially at 500mg each. I mean they dont want us having more than 500mg of tylenol. I guess I am just a worrywort! The fact that she was not kicking me had me so scared. The nurse reassured me and we took a listen to her heartbeat. 146bpm. Wow she sure is doing fine. I tried playing with my tummy and everything. You know when you rub one side and you aggervate baby, they kinda object, or play back. Well it was not workin this time. Today we were at kroger getting the yogurt, med., and more water, she started boxing with me. I was like yep, she is fine! So, thank so much for the help and knowledge!!

Lots of love
heather

My aunty had it when she was pregnant with her first baby, its not an std, we are all tested routinly in australia, apparently it is something that can occure naturally in the body but is really only a risk to the baby during birth which is why they give u antibiotics during your labour, so don't worry about it.....

Hey, thanks alot for all the info., really helps to have advice and reassurance. As for your questions, I am 16 weeks and 6 days, as of this morning, lol. The father and I at this moment are not together. I would love to hit him over the head and wake him up! My next appointment beyond the 27th is march 4th. The 27th is not really an appointment, just to hear some satistics and see my baby, find out if its a boy or girl. For my regular check-up that would be the 4th. The day that I went for the appointment, we got to hear the heartbeat and it was 146bpm. She wanted to make me feel a little at ease. Then of course she pushed on my belly and said coming along great! Again, thanks for your input.
Lots of love
