Young Hpv Male Looking For Guidance Posted: 03-04-07 12:37pm
Hey everyone. I have just recently turned
17 and have been diagnosed with hpv a
couple months ago. My girlfriend(at the
time) had it and didn't know it until it
showed up and by then we have had sex
quite a bit. A couple months later I have
warts show up and went to a sexual center
and got treated. They said that they
should all be taken care of. Recently they
have come back in the same spot they were
frozen off and are more than double in
size. I havent been able to get a response
or information concerning hpv and males.
All i hear about is females and hpv. Are
there guys out there with hpv who know hwo
to deal with this. Do I have to wear a
condom for the rest of my life? Will I
ever be able to start a family? Will i
ever be completly cured or will the warts
go away? Really just need a male whose
gone through this and knows what to expect
and how to deal with it. I have told my
current girlfriend about it and im scaried
of transmitting it to her, though we would
always use a condom. What do I do?

When I caught HPV it took three treatments
for the warts to go away permanently. The
first time was acid based, the following
two times were via laser. It has now been
about 8 years and I have not seen them
again.
Although they say 25-50% of women have
HpV(but not all strains show visible
warts) my wife and I have two kids and she
has never shown any symptoms. For a long
time she was on the pill, but we have also
used condoms over that time.
They say that you are never completely
cured, but I think that is more a function
of there is no definitive test to confirm
it. They say the virus lives in the skin,
but it's been a while and no recurrence...

Man i feel ya i m bout to turn 21 and my
girl friend has been fighting the bumps
for about 6 months or so and i dont have
any symptoms im sure i have it but if i go
to a doctor they all know my family and i
dont have the money to get get treated but
i know i dont have any symptoms but my
girl friend wants me to go just to check
and like i love my girl friend alot but i
feel like im already married to her cause
i would not want to infect anyone else and
i have only had like 5 different partners
before her and like all my friends do
every girl they can and i m the safe one
you know so i know how you feel and
supposedly oral is out of the question and
sex with out a condom for forever i mean i
dont have the symptoms but like me helping
her fight them is hard enough and i for
sure dont wish this upon any one and like
they act like male warts dont warrant and
information but you know i dont know what
to do and cant talk to anyone about it

Warts often recur after the first
treatment but after a few removals they
should stay away.
The HPV virus often disappears after a
while but you can't be 100% sure that you
don't have it anymore even after you
haven't seen any warts for a long time.
There is a HPV vaccine for females, so to
be on the safe side when you get a new
girlfriend the right thing to do is to
have her get vaccinated before you have
unprotected sex.
Yup i agree with nada. Vaccine is the
best thing for your girl. If she gets HPV
it can mean cervical cancer for her.
That's a whole bigger scare than warts. I
don't think it's only in the skin. It's
really in the blood. I was a hospital
corpsman in the navy and i've help treat
men with HPV. We used acids but they
would usually reappear later on. We also
recommended showers at least twice a day
to help keep things clean. So far i've
heard that you're pretty much stick with
HPV for life. Sorry but be thankful it's
not HIV or herps. I've seen men cry
because of the two. Get your girl the
vaccine and if you really want to be safe
then wear the comdoms. Sure you have
warts but it can be worse for women.
