Hi I am a little new to this chat thing so you may have to bear with my dumb questions. I guess I should say a little about myself. I am 21 years old and I have temporal lobe epilepsy. I have had it for about 4 years with no luck on any medicine. I have been on, lamictal, dilantin, tegretol, and there was 1 more but I can not remember what it was. Well I just recieved the results of an mri this morning and I was told that one of my temporal lobes is mush larger than the other one. Now the doctor called me at 8am this morning after I had been up most of the night studying so I was a little out of it and did not ask him any questions. I was wondering if any of you are aware of this...Is it normal, should I be worried???? Please help me understand...I hate these damn seizures. Sad

Sorry to hear about the meds not working. I would strongly encourage you to call your doctor back and ask more questions about the mri. A lot of times these findings are just normal variations, but your doctor really should shed a little more light on it. Also, there are so many other medications out there that I think you should insist on trying something new. My son had to go through so many meds before he found the right ones and the right doseage. It took me convincing the doctor that he was over-medicated and to let's try a lower dose. He's on keppra and trileptal and has had great seizure control for two years. So many of the other meds (tegretol, depakote and others) made his seizures more frequent and gave him terrible side effects. But you have to be persistant with your doctor about asking for something else to try. Don't give up and you have a right to have your questions answered about your mri. Good luck.
