Zoloft Question
Posted: 03-06-07 12:28pm

I have been on Zoloft off and on for years. I was at 150 mg. and gained 35 lbs., sweated constantly, and shook pretty badly. I lowered the dose to 50 mg. and had little positive effect on my mood(s). I have been at 100 for months now and I like it alot. No weight gain and minimal sweating (except when exercising then it's a water fall). I recently started the shakes again. It's getting pretty bad. I know that lowering the dose will fix it but then I will go *wacko* again. Any suggestions?

I am .n.o.t interested in vitamins or supplements. My problems are related to Tourettes Syndrome and not vitamin defiency. So don't suggest *honey dew melon* or that .b.s. Thanks!

Have you tried any herbs? Just checking. I've heard and read that dietary changes can have a great effect on problems like this. I'm going to assume you pretty much eat things like pizza, white pasta and so forth.

I appreciate the concern but it's not diet related. I have tourettes syndrome and as hard as it is for people to comprehend-it is not due to diet, exercise or any other controllable factor. It is in the brain function. Pizza, pasta, etc. is not the problem. I assure you that tourettes .I.S real and, hey-it is a pretty misunderstood condition. I don't know everything but have researched this to death and all of the "food" angles some doctors take has been blown to pieces in research. I'm asking solely about Zoloft dosing or alternate drug remedies. No herbs or supplements. Real .D.R.U.G.S. I like them and they are effective. Go with what you know. Know what I mean? But truly, Thanks.

Don't worry, I know about this condition and what it does. It's just that sometimes an already faulty nervous system can become even more effected if you're not really eating right. Just a thought. So are you saying this problem is directly related to zoloft? A bit confused by the comments, but I believe you mean it's related to Tourette's only. As far as I know, the treatment usually for this involves attempting to use anti-psychotics, since they're known for their ability to reduce shaking and other such symptoms. They're not without risk, however. The two main ones are zyprexa and risperdal.

The shaking is related to the dosing of zoloft. I take zoloft to help my ocd and extreme mood swings. It is working very well for both conditions but the shaking is due to the dose I am on. If I lower the dose- it does not work as effectively. I was just asking for input to other drugs that may not have shaking as a side effect. I'm allergic to wellbutrin and prozac did nothing. Any suggestions? And thank you for the reply....I do appreciate it stan.

Hmmm, I believe Lexapro is definitely safe in this regard.

Yeah, try that one. I was actually put on it for a mistaken diagnosis, so though it wasn't what made me feel better (diet in my case), it didn't have such an effect and I don't recall it saying anything about this in the little manual thing. I've heard Paxil is quite a monster, so definitely steer clear of that beast.

Paxil

I have not heard anything positive about paxil form friends who either take it or have taken it. I have recently stopped .Requip for restless leg and I seem to think alot clearer and has cut way down on night sweats. Anyone else have *weird* mental side effects from requip? I seemed like I was in a cloud constantly. Keeping the zoloft though. I get tired of counting freikin' cars on the freeway and trying to even things up! I do say however that my ocd has helped alot in my business (math related). Now if I can get to my add I'd be a happy camper! Gotta go- saw something shiny!
