I am 20 weeks pregnant as well and it's 1:30 am! I am not tired at all!! I am going through a major insomnia episode. Too bad there aren't any good movies on. I don't feel like reading but perhaps that will help me get to sleep.

I asked this before but you didn't respond. When are you due? I am due on July 23.

I love those channels!! For some reason I like HGTV lately, too.

My preggo belly has really started to pop out. I guess it's because this is my second pregnancy. My husband has some crazy elaborate system set up on his computer that I can't just take a picture and have it appear...I need his help. Sad, huh?

Are you feeling the baby yet?? My lil' guy has gotten pretty active.

Yep, we are due around the same time. How exciting!! I don't see the end of the road yet, either. I can't wait to hear about how your pregnancy progresses. It's interesting how we are both going through major insomnia and we are both 20 weeks!!!! How in the heck am I going to fall asleep tonight?

You are kidding! I have gained 21 pounds - probably 22 pounds now. I was underweight to begin with. I only weighed 98 or 100 pounds at 5'4 when I got pregnant. It makes me feel so much better to hear someone else say they have gained that much weight!!

At least my doctor is letting me do some light exercise now. I was on bedrest then modified bedrest for a while.

P.S. You certainly don't look like you have gained 22 pounds. I honestly think a lot of my weight gain is in my boobs!! I don't remember having this big of boobs during my first pregnancy, especially this early on. I may have to buy another bra! I am not complaining. It is embarrassing, though, when your three year old is always commenting on them..."What's this???" He says that while smiling or laughing. I have to tell my child not to touch my boobs. He is very fascinated with how mommy is changing.

hahah my problem is i wasnt underweight when i got pregnant..lol. and im near 5'10..
What exercise are you planning on starting.. I need to get motivated.. I go through periods of time where im all about it out walking hills and going to the gym..then i have days where is rough to walk to the bathroom. it makes me feel better to hear someone else has gained almost the same as me.. I swear every person i know is talking about how by 5 months theyve only gained 9 lbs or so (which i know is normal) but it makes me think ive gained over twice as much weight as i should Shocked
I feel so much better about myself when i get a workout in. I think the roughest part of pregnancy for me has been the weight gain.

I will probably go to the gym. I "plan" on using the treadmill, rucumbant (sp?) bikes, and stairmaster. I "plan" on going to the gym tomorrow. I need to get motivated. I think this weight gain is starting to be enough motivation for me. That and I lost so much muscle by being on bedrest. I hear you about it being rough to even walk to the bathroom. There are days I just want to sleep all day.

My sister in law is 5'10 and also gained about the same as us this early in her pregnancy. I never even noticed it on her. She seemed to lose it very quickly, too. You definitely have that height advantage, lucky you!!

Alright...it's almost 2:00 am and I am making a pact to head to the gym tomorrow...today. Ha...

From what I remember, we keep getting bigger!!!

Ha, your hubby will be loving it for quite a while and you will be learning what it's like to be even bigger. I am normally a D but I think I will have to move up to a DD size bra to even function.

I tried wearing a few larger shirts and my boobs don't fit in them!!! Well, they do but I have to scrunch them in there. It's hilarious, but slightly irritating too. I have maternity clothes but they were for Arizona weather not Washington state -from last babe. My husband is 6'6, so I can wear his clothes to bed but that's about it.

If/when I start working out and if/when I gain A LOT more weight (more than average), I will try to psyche myself out and say I am gaining muscle:) It could be true.

You can tell your DH that someone from Des Moines WA/Burien area is on the forums. My husband is from Yakima. Small world.

I am going to attempt to fall asleep or at least read an incredibly boring book. Good luck falling asleep.

Just note that you should follow up with your doctor before starting to work out. If you didn't work out before your pregnancy on a regular basis then you should talk to him/her before starting/doing anytype of workout rutine. I was told by mine that i could continue bowling because my body was used to doing it...an i should switch to a light ball during my pregnancy. but he also told me not to doanythig that my body wasnt' already used too. i was also advised that i shouldnt' have loosing weight on my mind while working out. weight gain is a normal thing during a pregnancy. if you gain a lot, it's not always your fault per my doctor. i was luck and only gained like a total of 22 lbs...but i lost 12 before i started gaining weight.

here are a few tips for excersizing during pregnancy.

Guidelines for Exercising while Pregnant
Here you are. You've decided to exercise, your doctor agrees, and you want to be sure you do it right. Follow these rules and you will be strafing a very healthy life for you and your baby.

Women who have been previously primarily sedentary should begin at a very low intensity and advance gradually.

Exercising at least three times per week (spaced out over the week) is better than intermittent activity.

Ballistic (jerky, bouncy) movements and deep flexion or extension of joints should all be avoided.

Wear supportive bras and shoes to compensate for the extra weight.

Drink water throughout exercise. Vigorous exercise should also not be performed in hot or humid weather or while you have a fever.

Vigorous exercise should always be preceded by a ten minute warm up of cardiovascular exercise (like walking).

Maternal heart rate should never exceed 140 beats per minute. The heart rate should be measured at the peak of activity.

Strenuous exercise should last no longer than 15 minutes.

Exercise should be followed by a 5 to 10 minute cool down. Care should be taken to gradually rise from the floor to avoid blood pooling in the limbs.

Exercise should not be performed lying on the back after the fourth month of pregnancy is completed.

Exercises employing the Valsava maneuver (holding breath) should be avoided.

Be sure to eat enough to meet the extra needs of pregnancy and the extra needs of exercise.

(author not me.)

good luck ladies

i just wanted to say insomnia is normal, my insomnia got a lot worse within the last few weeks (ill be 30 weeks on tuesday yay almost in the single digets) i had pretty bad insomnia before i was pregnant and its only gotten worse

id expect it to get a lot worse as heartburn and backaches start to come and your belly gets bigger and you pee even more..the joys of pregnancy eh?
