Hey all,
my name is carla and I am 22 years old and
I have had epilepsy since I was 14.
I am 6 weeks pregnant with my second
child... I accidently got pregnant while
on 1000mg epilum and 600mg tegretol cr...
So the doctor told me to go right down to
200mg tegretol. So I did, and I had 2
seizures in a row last week and am scared
to death that it has hurt my baby!
2 questions...
Has anyone ever fallen pregnant on epilum
and tegretol? If so, was ur baby alright?
And has anyone ever had a grand mal
seizure in the early stages of pregancy?
I am really scared that my baby is hurt
and I am also scared that I am going to
keep fitting. If anyone has any comments
at all I would really appreciate a
reply... I can't stop stressing about
it!!!

Hi
my wife in her 12 week she's on Lamictal
850 mg/day.
she have every week at least 1 siezure
that takes ~1min, from what i heared its
not hurt the baby, uless you fall on your
stomach.
we are going to insert Frizum with
Lamictal after the end of the 12 week,
dont worry, you need to take 5mg folic
asid, and eat a lot of good food

Hi
My name is Misty, I am 20 years old and
have had epilepsy since I was 14 also.
I now have a 5 month old baby. When I
found out I was pregnant I was taking 5
500mg Keppra a day and my doctor had
switched me to Phenobarbital (not sure if
I spelt that right) but he said that its
the only known seizure medication that
does not harm the baby.
When I got pregnant I was seizure free for
a little over a year and would have still
been seizure free if my pharmacy didnt run
out of the 20mg tablets that I was taking

months of age . No I didn't have
any grand mal seizures while pregnant. The
specialist I was under said that tegretol
is one of the safest drugs to be on whilst
pregnant. I took folate in big doses
eg.3-5mg and then in the last month
Vitamin K.
