Itchy Long Lasting Rash, Small Red Bumps Posted: 03-08-07 18:10pm
About two months ago I got a small rash on
my inner elbow, it started out as just
tiny ( about the size of a pen tip) red
bumps, in an area about the size of a
quarter. It was VERY itchy. Now the skin
around the rash is a brown-ish colour and
the bumps only show up after I scratch it,
and it still itches. But now I have the
same thing starting in my belly button and
between my brests. I also keep getting
rashes with red bumps (about the size of a
pencil eraser) and they itch very very
badly, but goes away within a day, but
keeps comeing back everynight. Does
anyone know what any of these rashes are,
what caused them, or what I might do to
make them go away?

i have simialr problem for months.
Finally doc figured it was the bath gel
and shampoos i was using. and scrubbing
with loofas etc. Made skin v senstivie and
dry without realising it. Got so desperate
i started just showing with water minus
soap to let skin settle down. And
moisturise a lot. Now i use cetaphil
non-soap soap. It's better now. but still
some stubborn patches

Also, do avoid moisturisers that contain
paraffin or mineral oil. They only "coat"
the top layer of skin but don't nourish.
Try sweet almond oil. To help with
itching at night apply a thin layer of
calomine lotion. For a quick fix try an
ice cube on the itchy spot. or cool
shower all over if you have been
perspiring.
