Yeast Infection Or Something Else? Posted: 02-13-04 21:18pm
A couple of weeks ago, I started having a
burning, itching feeling in the vaginal
area. It was painful to have sex as
well. This happened while I was on
antibiotics. After almost a week, I
decided to try yeast infection cream
because I figued that was what it was even
though I have never had a yeast infection.
I have been treating myself with this
stuff for five days and I still feel a
little itchy but I am not in pain and even
had sex comfortorably. Shouldn't it be
completely cleared up by now though if it
is a yeast infection? I was reading the
pamphlet with the cream and it said that
yeast infections have discharges with
them, but there hasn't been a discharge
with this. My husband and I are
monogamous and there don't seem to be any
sores. I don't think that I have any
allergies. I have been using a differnt
detergent but wouldn't other parts get
itchy too?

Not necessarily seeing as how the genitals
are extremely sensitive.. But I think
that you should see a doctor and describe
what your going through, it may not be a
yeast infection at all (especially if u
don't have any discharge), and all you are
doing by treating what you have with yeast
infection medicine is making your body
immune to it, so that when and if you ever
do have a yeast infection, it won't work
anymore! You also say that you had sex
recently.. And although it was
comfortable for you if it is indeed a
yeast infection, you could very easily
transmit it to your partner.. And him to
you once again, and the cycle would be
never-ending unless you find out what it
is (was) for sure.

You should not have sex when you have a
yeast infection. You should go to your
doctor to make sure of what it is
especially if this is your first time
having an infection of this sort.
Because it may not be a yeast infection at
all, but you will not know until you get
tested. And after you know what it is,
if this happens again you will know how to
treat it. Good luck.
