Breast Problem Posted: 03-14-07 02:06am
Hello. I've noticed something rather
disturbing lately and I need some advice.
I'll give some facts first though. I'm 17
years old and sexually active. I was on a
birth control pill called Kariva for
around 8 months. I have very abnormal
periods and have been known to skip for up
to 5 months at a time only to get a heavy
two week period. This past week, I noticed
that there was liquid coming out of my
nipples. It has a white, milkish
appearance so I can only assume that maybe
I'm lactating or something. At first I
feared that I may be pregnant, but I
recently purchased a home test and it came
out negative. Now the liquid only comes
out if my breasts are squeezed. I have
never been pregnant or miscarried. I've
only been on birth control, but I stopped
taking the pill in mid-December. Is this
something I should be worried about or is
this a natural thing? Any help is
appreciated.

This liquid is normal for some women when
they hit puberty... and because the pills
mimic the pregnant body, that may have
stimulated your breasts. WHy did you stop
taking the pills? Are you using another
form of birth control? Is there good
evidence you might be pregnant?

I was originally put on the pill to try to
regulate my period, but was taken off
suddenly because my doctor did not like to
give the pill to girls under 18. Condoms
are the only birth control form I am
using. I'm not sure if there are other
signs of pregnancy. I haven't been
nauseous and I'm not urinating any more
often. I haven't gotten my period yet, but
with my cycle, that's not so different.
