Which Is Better to Do?
Posted: 03-14-07 08:47am

I had a baby awhile ago and still havent gotten my period yet. I went to the dr. yesterday and they gave me birthcontrol pills which she said I could take asap or just wait for it to start naturally which could take months. My question is (I thought about it after I left there) we want to get prego again well start trying soon. Should I get on them til I get my period then stop and start trying to get prego again? Or just wait til I get it naturally? Can anyone help with advice?

I think if you want to get pregnant soon, you won't want to take the pill at all. The bleeding on the pill is withdrawal bleeding and isn't a normal period. Breast feeding can delay af and getting regular, but plenty of women get pregnant while breast feeding. Did your doctor know that you wanted to get pregnant when he prescribed the pill?

Maybe it does help get you regular sooner. A lot of ladies on this forum experience delays in getting regular after coming off the pill, so it seems counter-intuitive to take the pill to get regular in anticipation of ttc. I'd ask you doctor again to be sure.
