im not sure, i waited until 38 weeks to take maternity leave. Unless theres a medical reason to go earlier id wait until around 36-38 weeks. i went at 38 wksthinkin my son would be early and i went 2 days over. but its nice to get to relax for awhile before giving birth

do u have agood manager? maybe they can lessen your hrs or switch times , or if ur working just for the heck of it and dont really need the money id quit but if you need the money id talk to the manager and see. my managers were nice to me when pregnant. i knew if i needed less hrs they would give em to me, they actually asked if i wanted to work 6 hr days instead of 8. And they were all guys so that was a shocker even more lol

well they were going to talk to me about how im working next week some time but they have to leave for a meeting and wll be gone all week i guess its not that important but when they come back im going to put my 2 weeks ! i guess the reason for them talk to me is that im not doing a good enough job, but you would think if it was that importnant they would remember!

the person who was here before me was here for like over 10 years and of course she knew everything ! and i have only been here for like 5 months and when i started thats when i found out i was pregnant ! so i let HR know that and i also said that i wasnt sure if i would be oming back after the baby so maybe they are trying to do all so i would quit ! cuz they said if i go on maternity leave they can hire anyone until its over.

hmm maybe theyre trying to run you out of there it sounds like, i worked at my job a few yrs before i got pregnant with my son but i had moved away and came back and talked to my old manager about getting my job back and told him i was pregnant. But they knew i was a good worker so they willingly took me back and wouldnt wanna get rid of me. so i guess being there a while before pregnant did me some good. They cant fire u for pregnancy related issues at all, i can tell ya that much , its illegal.

If you go to your doctor and talk to them about your job and the stress involved they could write you a note to go out, but with FMLA most employers will only guarantee to hold your job if you are out a certain amount of time. My employer gives us 12 weeks FMLA for maternity, and if I decided to take longer than they could replace me.

I'm having a c-section on Wednesday at 9:00am and I'm working Tuesday until 5:00pm. I would rather be a bit tired at work and have the full 12 weeks home with my baby, but if my job were super stressful, I can't say I would still be there.

yeah but if yer a good worker it will be hard to find a good reason for that. When i worked at subway i got "fired" and they dind tell me a real reason besides the fact of a trust issue or some bullcrap, needless to say me and my old manager qualified and got unemployment.

Ok first of all, most places have a probationary time period when you take on a new job....most places is 90 days. If you can't do your job duties you can be released from your job. you are over that time frame...they can't let you go now without giving you warnings. it's against the law...and I dont' think that they would let you go on the first go round and def not because your pregnant. (depends on where you work too.)

the right way to go about this is to get a doctor's not about your working. have him list your limitations and restrictions. ie: can't push pull lift more than 20 lbs, can't bend, can't sit/stand/walk for long periods of time (10-20-30-40 mins at a time) and approch them about this. if they have a place to put you like a sedintary (sp) posistion. i have no idea what is is you do...if you already said it sorry i didn't read all the posts. A lot of jobs don't consider being tired as a disability....it's something that comes with pregnancy. sorry

Mat leave is something that you have if you qualify at your job...you need to get the policy for the company and read it and go from there. you most likely haven't bult up enought time to be off the whole 6-8 weeks. but mat leave is for PP leave. If you leave before that point you have to have your doctor involved....at this point you most likely havn't built up enough leave time.

I work in disability and i do this all day long ...if you have anymore questions let me know.

.i quit my job when i was like 33wks or something. 22 seems way too early unless they're making you do really hard labor or something.

Yeah being tired isn't a reason to quite her job or go out on disaiblity early. They will look at like she is crazy. Fatigue and being tried are two different things....being tired is a normal part of pregnancy. Because i pay mat claims all day long (between 100 and 200 a week) I know what bosses will allow and what they won't. being tired don't cut it. Sorry. I think that if you can afford to quite then you should stick it out and put your whole paycheck in the bank for emergencies....if you dont' need the money then work a few more weeks for the money.

Do you have any type of disability coverage??

yah i know it's really early for me to quit but im getting kind of stressed out here i really dont like the job its not hard or anything im a recepitionist and all i do is sit down all day and answer phones and deal with people who come in. so its not that hard ! at all i just but they were tell me that cant hold my job for me if i want to take off more then a month after the baby is born because i havent been here a year yet so screw it i can find antoher job its not that hard and i will be moving like 45 min. away from here too so i would have to drive a longer way to get her and waste gas which i think is not worth what i get paid !

Why not wait until you move before you quit? It sounds like a nice job for a pregnant woman. You're not on your feet, no heavy lifting, etc. Bank as much of the money as you can - even one week of being without work is a nice chunk of change your baby could use.

That's what I would do. Work until you move, and then find a job closer to home. Low-stress, low-impact jobs are wonderful for expecting mothers! Hang on to it as long as you can. Wink
