I Would Love to Be a Dad. Posted: 03-17-07 06:11am
This is my very first post, in fact, my
first visit to this forum. I just
accompanied my wife to visit the doc and
was told that at 6 weeks, our baby is
barely visible, in fact, he probably
couldn't see it from the ultrasound. As
such, a blood test was done today, and
another one in 3 days time. I just wish to
know what are the chances that our baby is
not growing properly? My wife is extremely
sad and so am I. We had been trying for
the past 2 years and she finally conceived
after a series of medication. Some advice
would be greatly appreciated.

every pregnancy is different but there is
no reason to think this pregnancy won't
suceed. tell your wife to start thinking
more positively. it will be good for her
and the baby.
The risk of miscarriage decreases as
pregnancy progresses. It is possible that
as many as 50% of pregnancies miscarry
before implantation in the womb occurs.
Early after implantation, pregnancy loss
rate is about 30% (i.e. this is still
before a pregnancy is clinically
recognised). After a pregnancy may be
clinically recognised (between days
35-50), about 25% will end in miscarriage.
The risk of miscarriage decreases
dramatically after the 8th week as the
weeks go by.

That was what I had been trying to tell
her, but she keeps blaming herself. I am
just keeping my fingers crossed that the
baby is alrite. Really sad that unwanted
preganacies are happening so often and yet
when one is planned, it took us so long.
