Clotting During Menstruation Posted: 02-15-04 19:07pm
Lately, I have had a couple of periods
where there has been more clotting than
just regular bleeding and between periods
I have had clear clotting. There is no
pain or odor and I was just wondering if
this is normal or if it could be a
problem. I just had a check up about 6
months ago and my pap smear was normal.

Could you be preg??? I mean I understand
your getting your period, but it has
happened where women still get their
period.

Sorry to suggest this but it could also be
that you were pregnant & miscarried
without knowing about either situation
& that there is still some foetal
matter there. I would seea dr & get
it checked.

I have had clotting during menustration
for quite a long time some of it was down
to an ovarian cyst which wasnt discovered
until I had a scan but other times I was
told this can happen and as long as there
is no pain or smell or any other symptoms
it could be just heavy periods, if you are
worried I suggest you seek medical advice.
Take care. Ps: my clotting eased when I
started taking an evening primrose capsule
every day, it took a month to work.

I am definitely not regnant nor was i. I
forgot to mention. I am 46, had my tubes
tied when I was 25. I'll try the
primrose capsule and see if that works.
I was just wondering if any other women
had had the same problem and maybe had
some ideas abut why.

I have been having clots during my periods
for quite a few years now....My Dr. Said
it was quite normal during
perimenopause. You say you are 46?I'd say
it's normal,but if you're concerned,talk
to your doctor.

Clots And Heavy Bleeding Posted: 10-11-04 21:59pm
Hi,
have you had recent pelvic
exam,ultrasound,or pap smear. This has
happened to me,and I have fibroids,which
are benign tumors in uterus, and can make
you bleed heavily. Sometimes they will
shrink and go away on their own,or
sometimes,you need a hysterectomy,or have
them removed.

Without pain or other symptoms like heavy
bleeding, it's probably nothing to be
concerned about. But any change in your
normal cycle should mean seeing a doctor.
I passed clots for 20 years without pain,
my doctor said it wasn't a problem. The
only thing that brought relief was bcp,
but those brought their own problems.
Without a foul odor or fever, it's
probably nothing bad. It could be polyps
or fibroids. Polyps can be treated with a
d&c, fibroids can be removed
surgically.
Personally, it sounds to me like polyps.
My doctor also suggested oil of evening
primrose.
Give your doctor a call and make an
appointment. Let us know how it turns
out.
Take care.

Hi. I'm having a problem with clotting,
too. After two missed periods I started
spotting this past weekend, put it was
more clots than blood. They are really
large, and black. Any ideas as to what
could be causing this? I'm going to a gyn
on friday, but if anyone has any ideas,
i'd love to hear them, so I can ask
then;)
thanks.

After my third child, my periods had
gotten more painful, lasting longer, and I
started clotting. I talked to my obgyn
and he talked me into having a procedure
called novasure done. It is where the
lining of your uterus is burned out
(endometrium lining) that makes you have
your period. Ever since I had it done,
my periods have been less painful, no
clotting and very short. I am glad I had
it done. It is definately something to
talk to your obgyn about if you are done
having children and your periods are
bad.
I am glad I did it!
